    WTF ???

First (and only) recognized MW, LHW and HW champion with wins over the nonpareil Jack Dempsey and John L conqueror, Jim Corbett, to name but two. A far better record than either Pac or Floyd.

I don't have a top 30 either and if I did, there'd be a fair amount of subjectivity.

I have the top ten that I posted, and I'm not going to have a fit if you want to put Pep or Walker in there and move one or two of my guys out.

I consider how the fighter looks to my eye, but I put considerably more stock in achievement.

I don't believe any one can make a serious case for displacing any of my ten in favour of Pac or Floyd.

I do think that there is a tendency in the classic to overrate fighters from earlier days and I do rank the MAY 2 pair a fair bit higher than most experts.

At this point, I have both knocking on the door of top thirty, and I'm pretty sure that ONE of them will crack the top twenty-five in the years to come.

No idea. While Floyd is undoubtedly good & has great skills, there is no way i'd rate him highly. I'd even put Pacquiao ahead of him despite his record. In my book, undefeated means **** when you've fought no hopers for the greater part of your career.

floyd easily is above duran right now.. duran is what 17-5 in championship fights while floyd is 25-0 in championship fights unified two weight classes at the age of 38 defeated 11 HOFERS WHILE THEY WERE CHAMPIONS OF THEIR DIVISIONS:

duran doesn't even belong on the list..

    Give it time.

Perspective is always needed. Emotional hatred settles down over time. Most fighters who are hated aren't appreciated for a decade until after they are gone.

You can tell by all the blind negativity he gets that everyone deep down appreciates his greatness. Otherwise those who dislike him wouldn't need to spew what they do for 8 hours a day about that one fighter, who they claim to hate, in hopes of somehow swaying others to feel the same way.

If you compile a "10 or 20 best victories" list among the two, you might be surprised.

To the guys above who claim that Floyd is a complete fighter, consider how inadequate his offense is, especially compared to Sugar Ray Robinson. Like the defensive wizard Nicholino Locche, who was damn near unhittable but lacked the power to crack an egg, Floyd is the textbook definition of an "incomplete" fighter.

That depends entirely on how you rate fighters. Do you rate them by their win/loss record, the number of title fights, or by signature wins. It's definitely worth arguing that Duran's 17-5 record is phenomenal considering the opposition he faced and Mayweather's 25-0 is almost pedestrian considering who he faced.

If Duran had chosen to sit at lightweight or junior welterweight his whole career, he'd probably have gone 40-3 or something, but he'd never have fought Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez, Barkley, etc. Duran chose to fight bigger guys, like Walker, and Armstrong before him rather than dominate a single division like say Benny Leonard or Marvin Hagler. It's a different kind of greatness and it skews their records a tad.

Plus, a lot of those title fights Mayweather participated in were sheer nonsense. Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero were never the best contenders in their division. Even in an era with about six belts to fight for, those are weak title fights. Same goes for Pac fighting 35 title fights. Roberto Duran wishes there were so many belts around when he fought so they could make half of his fights for a title.

I was about to seriously break this post down.

But it is too far gone with so much wrong that I won't bother.

Fitz. One lucky punch against Corbett does not an ATG make.

This combined with your comment "Duran isn't even on the lost" say's to me that you are clueless.
