I think Floyd's final frontier will be changing his image...I mean, don't get it twisted, he's pimped being the villain for awhile, but any man with children and ambition to be a mogul, he has to be a consensus building relationship maker. You see glimpses of it in interviews plus that gansta sh't is old schtick for a young man...I think he will flip the script after the Pacquiao fight...if it occurs.

Point taken but I still think there is more than enough room for fighters to improve their business acumen and not kill the sport. To think boxers should understand contracts is asking alot...a better commission could ensure boxers are not screwed by ensuring certain percentages in purses, health insurance, etc...

I think setting a max salary/purse should do it. But the profit should not solely go to the promoters and managers and organizations. A certain percentage should be used to subsidize the TV networks in order for the fans to buy the fight cheaper if not for free. This should put boxing in the mainstream again and will vastly improve its market.

Not all fighters are well educated, but it doesnt mean they shouldnt go through the contract. Relying on these Organization leave plenty of room for exploits and abuse on the fighters. But if you simplify the negotiations and set a standard on how purse should be split and there's a limit to what the fighters are getting, i think it simplifies the way a fight is made.

You admire him for only wanting money?

I like him for his boxing skills, and his ability to become a 'character' in the boxing world.

I hate him for only wanting money. How is that admirable? Reminds me of Tommy Burns. All he wanted was money too.

Reznick, I think we all migrate to the ESB forum because we love boxing. I think Mayweather is one of the greatest defesnive boxers to ever lace em up. I really like the sh't talkin too...funny as hell.

I never said my admiration for Floyd was only for wanting money but I respect it especially with the history of boxers getting cheated by promoters.

Lastly, you couldn't possibly think Floyd doesn't love boxing when he's dedicated his entire life to the sport!

    LukeO,

You don't have to read every topic...I may be a "newbie" but I know boxing. I've been an avid fan since the late 70's...Shhiiiii, I didn't know sites like this existed...In fact, I watch ALL the fights even bs like Hopkins v RJJ.

(laughin)...I read a lot of your commentary, good stuff but I think it's enough room in here for all types of topics...Mosley WISH he had Mayweather's hand right now!

Okay, you've been a "avid fan" since the late 70s, which means you were either born in the 60s, or maybe the early 70s, but took up an interest in boxing at a young age....I was born in 1980, and I started watching and paying attention to boxing in 1988 or so, so that wouldn't be a huge stretch, but the question I have is...why would someone born before the 80s be quoting Trick Daddy?
