I really do think aside from each other and Sergio Martinez, Ortiz is the next best challenge for Pacquiao or Mayweather. I said after his fight with Berto, whoever takes on Ortiz has some balls.

Ortiz is a dangerous fight for Floyd, especially as compared with other matches Floyd takes, in my opinion.

However, Maidana handled Ortiz. At a lower weight. Berto was never anyone's idea of a world-beater, in my opinion, except if you bought the HBO hype. Peterson drew with Ortiz as well. It's not like Vic is unbeatable, especially at 147.

The biggest thing with Ortiz is there are questions with his focus/heart, fair or not. And he's a bit wild, and wide open for counters.

Someone as precise as Floyd should be able to exploit these things fairly easily, I think.

lol @ the article. said before berto-ortiz that if ortiz wins he would become an even bigger hype job than berto and what do you know, now he's being talked about as a threat to floyd and pac. when if you watched the berto fight you couldn't come to any other conclusion than ortiz would get KO'd to Pac Hatton-style and would be tailor made for Mayweather's counter punching.

Ortiz is a young, fast, hungry fighter, who is strong at 147, and has a pretty good pedigree. Also, he is an accomplished southpaw (Floyd's supposed weakness), although he is naturally a righty. He has many of the mexican fans behind him, right now, and he comes to fight. He's coming off a great win, has a major title, and has basically called out both Floyd and Pac (albeit respectfully). Among the WW's, aside from Pac, Ortiz is, currently, most qualified for this opportunity.

However, let's call it what it is...a cherry pick for someone at Floyd's level. Because, we know Floyd sees all the mistakes Victor makes and how to exploit each one. Floyd has the much higher IQ and the experience, and the mental edge. Not to mention, Floyd has better skills, etc. But, there could at least be some intrigue going into this one. And Ortiz has the output and power to make this interesting. I'd like to see it...and may even pay (debatable) to see some new blood get a shot against one of the best of this era, for a change.

please stop all the hype. ortiz may be coming off a win against an over rated berto. that does not make this a competitive fight.

I wonder what Floyd saw at the Berto fight that makes him think he can beat Ortiz?

Perhaps he thought Ortiz was a woman? Void is a woman beater and a liar! Void will never fight Pac because he is extremely afraid! Void is void.........
