This is a rumor ... Floyd will not vacate that title ... i'm sure that Don Jose doesn't want Floyd to vacate that title either. I think there's belt seems more prestigious with FLoyd Mayweather being the champion than Andre Berto and having Berto winning the title - breaks the lineage in the title that was started when Forrest beat SSM.

Worst case scenario is that the fight between Rodriguez and Berto is for the interim title or they force Berto to fight in another eliminator.

I'm sure that team Berto or Lou Dibella isn't confident about Berto taking such a big leap in class and facing the best fighter in the world for is first title shot.

It doesn't say for vacant WBC title on boxrec ... nothing about it on other major boxing media sites ... besides the scene and alot of the info that was in that piece was inaccurate.

I'm going to keep stressing that this is a rumor -- I think Dan Rafael wouldve posted that **** on ESPN.com --

I'm not going to take the word of a fan - just making up **** and posting it as news on the scene for boxing.

I'm sure that DBE1 ent and Team Berto wants no part of the p4p champion and the best fighter in the world.

I'm sorry but this story is far from the truth ...

The WBC is moronic to strip the Pretty Boy. He is the People's Champion. I'd love to see Mayweather-Hatton 2, but in Wembley Stadium.

******ed, but whatever. would've liked to see him defend that **** against more of the elite 147 lbers. i wouldn't be surprised if he fights oscar the 2nd time and calls it quits.

He should fight cotto before he retires but fighting cotto will be TOO RISKY for pbf.

So he would rather retire or vacate in order to AVOID his biggest threat of his CAREER

I say ****ing good.. If he doesn't want to defend his titles such as the WBC, vacate it and let other people fight for it.. Thats what a title holders should do.. Defend it against worthy opponents.. Prove you're the champion.. Not by saying you are..

How is Berto legitimate? He's good, but he's NOT in his prime. He's on his way up, but not there yet. The biggest thing he's fought for is an NABF. The biggest fight on his resume so far is DAVID ESTRADA!

This is the WBC's top 10 welterweights. Can you really tell me with a 'straight face' that any of these opponents here are "Legitimate Top in prime opponents"? Here it is:

1 .- Andre Berto (US) NABF
    2 .- Miguel Rodriguez (Mexico)
    3 .- Luis Collazo (US)
4 .- Jackson Osei Bonsu (Belgium) EBU
    5 .- Carlos Baldomir (Argentina)
6 .- Isaac Hlatshwayo (South Africa)
7 .- Jesus Soto Karass (Mexico) AMERICA
    8 .- Joaquin Zamora (Mexico)
    9 .- David Estrada (US)
10 .- Selcuk Aydin (Turkey) INTL

Vacating the WBC has NOTHING to do with Cotto. What does the WBC rank Cotto as?

Mayweather could probably do what he wants with the WBC, I'm sure he gets a BJ anyday from them if he requests !

He got that damn belt in 5 weight classes...if V. Klitschkow is champ emeritus, Mayweather's probably king champ super emeritus !!
