when floyd wins a belt, apparently he doesnt have to defend it for ever. Stiverne just won the WBC title ans somehow he has to fight wilder within 4 months, yet floyd can go ove a year without defending his strap.

Congrats! Yeah that's really an acomplishment and also unifying them back to back! Another thing to note is that he's also the ring champion of both weightclasses.

Golovkin said he would come down to 154 and fight Void, so did Martinez, but Void ran away as afraid as usual........................Void should not be allowed to keep the 154 belt unless he fights at 154................

easy to do when you never have to defend belts in a 2 year time.
floyd mayNEVER, king of the never ending championship...where winning 1 belt will last a lifetime...surprised they dont have him as a current 140 pound champion too

One year is the general rule for ranking fighters in a division. Once they surpass one year of inactivity, they are usually removed. More or less the same with title organizations; they all have their rules which apply when they want them to apply. As for the lineal titles, if he signs to fight at a division other than JMW next fight, he should be removed as the lineal champion at JMW (although everyone has there own precedents). If he fights at JMW, then he should remain both JMW and WW lineal champion until May 3rd approaches in regards to the WW lineage.

I'm sure he is rambling about this stretch of WW inactivity between Ortiz and Guerrero fights:

    9/17/11 - W KO4 Victor Ortiz for Oritz's WBC title

    2012 - fights Cotto for Cotto's WBA 154 title

    5/1/13 - W UD12 Robert Guerrero; 1st defense of his WBC title *

    * and "unification" of Guerrero's "WBC interim title"

The problem with Mayweather's lineal ship is that he never went through Pacquiao. A lineal 47 belt really shouldn't have been awarded in a fight other than those two against each other. Certainly not against ROBERT GUERRERO
