even though most impartial fans, i think, will say hands down that floyd is by far the best boxer on the planet, i think it's premature to write off a fight against pacman or margarito simply because they are both fighters who can fight for 12 rounds and carry power doing it.

ok, we don't know how pacman will fair if a fantasy fight takes place because it may be above what he fights at now, but i'd be fascinated to see a margarito - floyd fight simply because floyd won't be able to rest on his laurels (margarito fading so he can pick him off in later rounds) like he has been able to afford to do against the likes of oscar and hatton.

there is no pre-ordained recipe for success because each fight and fighter is a different proposition (those of who who have fought as a pro or am will know better than the rest - who are the ones who pass judgment so quickly).

but following the margarito win against cotto, and having considerable experince in the ring myself (and with success), for what it's worth i'm going to say that margarito - floyd is the fight i want to see.

margarito may be awkward and unconventional, but that may just prove to be the foil for floyd. i'm not saying it will, but i'll bet you antonio won't come forward and fail to throw punches because the guy isn't standing right infront of him (aka chico) simply because he couldn't adapt.

my money would still be on floyd, simply because he's not just a supreme boxer, but because he listens to his corner(not as common as you might think among top grade fighters), and adapts very well.

but i want to see this fight because floyd has never fought a top welter in his prime and a puncher like margarito who can go 12, and is now at the top of the tree, would certainly have a chance of catching and hurting floyd - and it's that chance that makes this fight so interesting now.

oscar never carried his power up - so for me this would be the fight for floyd to retire on (and he will be back, we all know that, including him).

margarito is a top welter - and a puncher - who will go 12 rounds.

that's what i want to see.

    Why we should:

Floyd is too busy rapping to come out of retirement.

    i don't believe that.
ego is a big thing with fighters.

Just how PBF lost love and desire for the sport because he felt there was no competition that could beat him, he still feels that way today. He looks at Margo as a dude he knows he could beat if he boxed carefully all nite. Therefore, he feels Margo is no competition.

Cotto vs PBF would be a bit slower paced fight of PBF vs Hatton. If the fight doesnt end in KO, I definetely see Cotto gett ing knocked down 1-2 times.

that's true when margo called him out way back when when he didn't have anything to back it up.

but margarito has earned his stripes now.

problem is...there is always a number 2 who has earned there place..

True. But I guarantee PBF won some money off of Margo and he probably wasnt impressed with his performance much. He's not going to come out of retirement and fight Margo, cause after he fights Margo then ppl are gonna say the guy who really deserved the fight was Williams, and after Williams ppl would say the guy who has the best technique to beat PBF and who should've been fighting him from the start was Clottey, and the after he beats Clottey ppl are gonna say he was scared of Cotto, Cotto's the guy we originally wanted to see him fight and we were asking for that fight first. And after he beats Cotto you guys will say how come he didnt give Oscar the rematch, he was afraid thats why he retired and then came back to fight someone different. And then you guys will be saying he owes Hatton a rematch and he needs to fight Berto. It'll never stop.

    i dont agree with that.

i think margarito gets a lot of respect for beating cotto and he really becomes the legitimate challenger to floyd now because people have been grooming cotto for a while now.

it'øs also worth his while financially now too - which is a big thing.

people won't say williams deserved it ahead of margarito because he's lost his momentum now - even though i read somewhere a couple of years ago that camp mayweather were pretty impressed with williams.

but it won't count for much now unless williams gets a big scalp.

You think AM gets alot of respect for beating Cotto?????:rofl :rofl :rofl

Did you hear what Kellerman & Lampley were saying after the fight was over? AM beats Cotto and the next day he's being accused of taking roids. And alot of ppl all over are saying he's afraid of Williams and ducking Williams when it hasnt even been two weeks since his last fight? The man hasn't even made alot of money in the sport and everyone is calling him money hungry. He just won a very tough fight and ppl are still talking about him wearing sunglasses. You call that respect?:nono

it doesn't matter waht people say.

it matters the fights that he can get now that he couldn't have before.

and where before he was somebody people didn't want to fight, now they will because he brings more to the table than just a mythical reputation for avoiding floyd when he had never earned it to begin with.

margarito's time is now and i think everyone knows it. i'm looking forward to what he can do with it - and if he can muster the same stamina and resolve he did for the cotto fight.
