there are so many posts and replies here and ESB...and so little precious time...so its really hard to keep up with everything...and i didnt see anything at the time....so forgive me if this subject was broached

but i remember floyd throwing out a little "hit list" if you will....and at the end was victor ortiz....which really...makes little sense for him

i was wondering what you think is more likely...that he was throwing his name out there....so that a casual fan might read it on espn.com or something....see his name...and maybe take an interest in who he is....in a small effort to help GB launch a future star

or perhaps...should floyd come through two megafights undefeated....he might throw golden boy a big bone...and get in there with ortiz...which would basically be a sparring session....with a few good exchanges where maybe floyd eats some shots....floyd wins a SD where the cards are already filled out beforehand....that would be quite a bone for ortiz and GB....

i dunno...i just cant really think of any other logical reason that floyd would mention the name

I was wondering about that also, Ortiz didn't really fit the mold of the list

WELL....if it's true that mayweather plans to fight 5 more times, then by his 5th fight, ortiz should be a champ already and a pretty big name.....ortiz by then will kick floyds ass

well i think yer right about the future of ortiz...i like him...i just didnt think floyd was really in the business of mentioning potential big names and possible future champions as opponents....especially at this stage of his career

if the 5 fight deal is true then he will fight Ortiz in his last fight in a "passing of the torch" kind of thing.

Obviously Ortiz is way too green for a slick vet like Mayweather. Floyd's intention was to fight him down the road after he's built a bigger resume and following. I love Ortiz. He really looks like the real deal, so I def. don't want to see his career derailed by taking on "Pretty Boy" so early on.

Right now Floyd would pick him apart, hardly get touched, and knock him out late.

where do you guys find that mayweather is a career ender....:huh
someone as skilled, powerful and young as vic would give floyd a lot of problems....

they make him out to be a monster or something

he couldn't even dominate an old ass oscar, yet he's gonna dominate the kid that got kicked out of oscars camp for whooping him up and down the ring :rofl

I like Ortiz alot, but he's NOT ready for Floyd yet. Let him get past a guy like Bradley first.
