From hooking left is bad boxing site:

Floyd vs. JMM, considered one of the worst TV fights of 2009

    - crap matchup at 144 (146) catchweight to begin with

    - it easily conned a lot of people with its marketing ploy

    - f*cked up weigh-in

    - after the fight, many fans felt being duped out of money

    - the fight only thrilled 69 joyboys :D out of the million people who ordered

I agree. This fight was a dull, one-sided mismatch. I love boxing, but I actually fell asleep during this match. I don't think I have ever fallen asleep during a PPV event like that. The 24/7 was much better than the fight.

I lost respect for De La Hoya when he "predicted" Marquez to win by KO.

A cheap attempt at selling the fight.

One of the many cheap marketing ploy. Fight promoters labeled it as a megafight. What a deception.

Those of you that bought this turdfest have no one but yourselves to blame for not getting the fights that you want out of Floyd. The message that you sent was that you will pay $50 to watch him hit a heavybag as long as there is a cool 24/7 series before hand. Then you have the nerve to get upset because you don't get the fights that you want.

The good thing about this fight is that maybe it took the steam out of the p4p myth that has surfaced over the last years, you know the whole, "I'll be p4p king if I beat so and so," mentality. p4p is a ranking made on the assumption that fighters will never meet because of weight classes, in other words, there is a reason for weight classes despite the weight climbing of some fighters that are physically gifted enough to do so.

Floyd is the main reason why it's one of the worst TV fights this year. JMM also contributed for being a willing victim and for being too ambitious.

This is nothing but the truth. We all knew from the beginning that Marquez at 135 wasn't what he was even at 130 let alone an extra ten pounds. I listened to the promotions and felt somehow at 36 Marquez would gain strength and speed with the right training. Stupid. There was no way he was gonna look better moving up like that when he was no where near drained and could still make 130. We were stupid because if we are into boxing we knew this. But the general public who only hear the hype and that Marquez took it to Pac twice and he was having the best camp ever......... Rah Rah looks sharper and faster than ever that's who were conned.

ATG's don't duck whole divisions, Rooney. Sorry, but that is the truth.:deal

I'm not totally a Floyd hater. I agree with you guys about his skills, talent, etc. But to me I have to see a little more than just speed mitt training videos and really cool rope jumping.
