A tuneup fight would be Diaz vs Pac. Marquez has a chance of winning. If I did it was to rile up PAc fans. I also sayd "Marquez is nobodies tuneup"
With Floyd's skills and abilities, he's favored over any current top 10 WW including Mosley and Cotto... But I don't think Floyd will be a 4 to 1 favorite against most of them... JMM just doesn't have 1 or 2 factors in his favor unlike the current top 10 WW boxers which might have 1 or 2 factors favoring them... Floyd-JMM definitely a mismatch fight... .
Of course Marquez has a chance... Have you heard of upsets happening in a tuneup fight??... It did happened many times already... Any tuneup opponent has a chance to win, just like Marquez... .
UPDATED Floyd vs. JMM tuneup, mismatch fight promotion blunders: BLUNDER #1 Fight was hurriedly announced just 12 hours before the Pacquiao-Hatton fight... It's not a good sign to promote a supposedly "big" fight riding on the buzz of some other big fight... If it's a big fight, it can stand on its own... BLUNDER #2 Floyd Mayweather Sr. proclaimed that JMM is just a TUNE UP fight for Floyd... Great!! Boxing fans will start buying tickets to see this tune up fight... BLUNDER #3 Promotional tour visit in London... No disrespect to boxing fans in London but why London? Is it because Matthew is fighting on the undercard? They should concentrate promoting the main event boxers... They could also have the promo tour to Mexico or to Grand Rapids instead of London... BLUNDER #4 The fight will be at a guessweight... :rofl It's up for the fans and media to guess the real weight these boxers will fight... I think this is one of the biggest promotional blunder... Weight as we all know is one of the most important factor in a fight and should be fixed and agreed upon during fight negotiation and should be clearly announced to the media and buying fans... BLUNDER #5 Floyd is willing to pay step aside money to JMM in order to fight somebody else... This only shows that their fight is really an irrelevant joke fight which can be easily postponed and/or canceled... It's also a big disrespect to JMM... BLUNDER #6 JMM's trainer Nacho Berestain publicly stated in a news article that he only give JMM 45% chance of defeating Floyd... I know Nacho is just being honest and realistic with his ward's chances in this fight but this won't help for the promotion of this fight... This maybe a tactical ploy but it doesn't help the business side of this fight... Since this fight was announced, it's already been viewed as a huge mismatch fight where Floyd has all the advantages... Fans has little interest on this fight and it's not selling well... The promotional blunders make it worst... .
No fighter actually has a 72 inch reach. Refute that, you stupid ****. Yes Floyd has a longer reach, congrats. But the way you say it, you made it out to be as if Floyd's arm are 5 inches longer than JMM's. They are not. The only reason you do this is because you want Floyd-JMM to fail. You're a fan of Pacquaio, not a fan of boxing. Simple as that.
Good that we are in agreement here that Floyd has the longer reach, wingspan, arm length, etc. .... :good Floyd's reach advantage coupled with his much superior speed will come in handy in potshotting JMM from range towards a boring UD victory... I'm doing this since promoters are trying to portray this fight as a competitive megafight... I think it's not... For me, it's a tuneup, mismatch fight that doesn't deserve to command expensive tickets and PPVs... I won't be fooled by the promoters' false hype... Also I consider Floyd, overpaid for this fight... $15M for a tuneup fight !! .
Its also just lacking the hype because its not as exciting as Cotto/Pac. Will probably be less of a blowout and more of a good technical fight, which i'm really lookin forward to, but alot of fans wont.
You say tuneup, but its two of the best fighters in the world fighting. Sure Floyd might use his size advantage very well and make it an easy night, but he might not. Floyd is only outta the P4P top spot because he retired for a while. JMM is he current #2, what are you bitching about? If you don't want to pay 15 bones for that then that's your business.
Is that all you can say?? There's no sense in that statement at all... But anyway I send it back to you... You're a ****ing hater and an ass hole sucker.
YOu been up all morning bitching about this fight. When in reality its 10 times the card of Pacs last 3 fights combined. Hell we get 5 former or current world champs on the same card, at half price, and all the antics and drama the Mayweathers could bring. What more could anyone wnat? Your just a little pacnuthugging ***. Get off his nuts, he aint god he's a man. Maybe you could get a job as his professional ball scrubber.
You are being confused by the boxrec's reach measurements. Boxrec's record is from the tip of the right middle finger to left middle finger (which is actually wing span). Mayweather, who is only 173 cm tall, would definitely not have a 183 cm reach as you can not possibly have that long upper extremity, if it only refers to one extremity. That measurement includes the trunk, thus people who are braod shouldered would deceptively have longer reach as well as those that have long fingers. Mayweathers' 5 inch reach advantage is for both extremities, therefore at most, he only has 2.5 inches advantage, coupled with the fact that he has broader body built, that reach advantage falls significantly.
I considered this tuneup since this is Floyd's first fight from almost 2 years in retirement... Floyd might be rusty... We don't know where Floyd's present skill level is... Is it same as the time he retired?? Yes these 2 might not be that far in terms of skills, size, speed, age, stamina, etc. but Floyd just edged JMM in almost all categories and if you combine the effect of these advantages in every category then that is what makes this fight a tuneup, a mismatch fight... Consider this, Floyd has the longer reach and superior speed... With these advantages, isn't it very easy for Floyd to potshot JMM from range?? Floyd is expected to win this one... In fact oddsmaker installed him as 4 to 1 favorite...
