Just because a fighter is "young and hungry", it doesn't automatically make him a tough opponent. Experience and the level of quality, are the factors that should be considered. And it's here where Ortiz, unfortunately, lacks big time to even threaten Mayweather.

As an 'alternative' to a Pacquiao fight - which is what I personally think it is - it's pretty disappointing.

However, I'll only give him a pass for having this fight, if he takes on Pacquiao immediately after.

This is a great fight for boxing. Anyone who says otherwise can't be taken seriously and has an agenda.

Just because Floyd is going to whip him like a 4 year old at K-Mart doesn't make him a weak opponent either.

But according to most people on here, it made Margarito a weak opponent when Pacquiao was predicted to whip him like a 4-year old. And this is despite the fact that Margarito would kill Ortiz if they ever fought.

    I don't get this logic.

If B's chances of winning is very slim, is it still a dangerous fight for the A guy???

I want to point out that everyone seems to think the mayweather of the mosley fight will show up, by the time of the fight he will be coming from a 16 month lay off while being in his mid 30's, its very realistic that floyd will be affected by this, not saying ortiz wins but we will have to see if the time off periods have affected floyd and how he handles it.

No people said he was a weak opponent cause he was gone for almost 2 years, and didn't look overly impressive in his comeback fight after being knocked out. So its matter of one being seen as taking someone thats on a downside in their career, while the other (Ortiz) is on the best upside in his career.

And if C and D are such **** opponents compared to B, then how come C and D would beat the **** out of B if they ever fought?

According to some people, nobody would be a good fight for Mayweather to take. Consider, he will beat Ortiz, and then Manny if he will take the tests, easily. To some people, anybody Floyd fights would be open to criticism as he beats everyone. Just face the facts, Floyd is numero uno!

It's a decent fight. It's the best possible fight at WW than Floyd can take other than the Pacquiao fight, which also probably says something about the state of the division in 2011 as opposed to the late 2000s.

It has to be followed up with a Pacquiao fight.

Looking soley at whether an opponent is on the downside or upside, is pretty stupid. The biggest consideration should be given to the quality-level of that opponent. And when you consider the quality-level, you'll find that a declining Margarito who fought Pacquiao, would still beat the crap out of the current on-the-up Ortiz that's about to face Mayweather.

So those people who are praising Floyd and bashing Pac for their recent choice of opponents, I ask them to take minute and think before they continue doing so.
