I don't even think people care about their excuses now, Pac's rep has taken a huge hit from this and everyone knows it. Everyone knows Floyd beat him fair and square. Only Pac****s like to keep making excuses, but in reality, no one really cares.
Floyd won and not because of any other factor but skill I'd watch a rematch, no other fights for Floyd of interest
Both of them are old and over the hill. The fact that they could sell this fight so big is enough to encourage them to do it again. Why not ? The fight should have happened 2011 at the latest, to see a historically meaningful contest. All we're seeing know is state of the art promotional hype. These are the facts, kids.
But if he'd lost to anyone else his rep would take a much bigger hit, without the cash reward. Really, he's hardly lost anything. No one who knew boxing was actually confident he'd win. Even Pac fans, many of them, thought he'd lose. I would have liked to see the upset but no way expected it. The whole thing is about money. People will buy into it.
When did Pacquiao make any excuses? I never once heard Pacquiao make an excuse or even mention the injury after the fight. Roach mentioned the shoulder in the post fight press conference. The guy had a serious shoulder tear. He needed surgery. Ain't no way that was not going to get reported. In a fight this big, any injury that marred the result would be seen as an excuse. We all knew this going in and an injury was one of the nightmare scenarios of the fight. However the bigger issue in my eyes is how TMT would have known about this injury prior to the fight. That should concern any neutral fan hoping for a truly "fair and square" fight. Lets be real, anyone associated with this event took a huge rep hit. Floyd's camp and Manny's camp all took a huge rep hit since the fight didn't deliver and has shadiness surrounding it. You're a huge Floyd fan so you'd like everyone to believe Floyd came out smelling like Roses. We are all hugely disappointed that Manny got injured, but Floyd didn't beat him fair and square. He beat a handicapped Manny Pacquiao after shadily knowing all that happened in Manny's camp including the injury. If you're proud of such a tainted win, then more power to you, but lets not get crazy.
