I think this is more concievable a fight than Oscar vs Manny. At least Floyds style is better suited for avoiding shots, Manny is a straight ahead fighter, its suicide with that style against a way bigger man with knockout power like Oscar

Bad bad idea. Kelly Pavlik is massive for a middleweight, he will be fighting at light-heavyweight very soon (175lbs). Floyd Mayweather started at superfeatherweight (130lbs), and was a small welterweight (147lbs) compared to guys like Margarito and Williams. Mayweather would be at a huge huge disadvantage in height, weight and reach, and also punch power. Pavlik could KO him with one shot, Floyd wouldn't be able to KO Pavlik if Pavlik did a Mayorga/Campbell and let him take free swings at his chin.

De La Hoya is well past prime (unlike Pavlik), Pacquiao knows he won't win but is taking the fight for the money because he saw in the Forbes fight (Forbes is a former superfeatherweight fighting at 150lbs v Oscar) that De La Hoya no longer has the snap in his punches to cause severe damage (unlike Pavlik).

Floyd's '0' means too much to him to take this fight, which would be unwinnable for him.

O, I agree that Floyd would get his ass kicked, im just saying that I thing Oscar vs Manny wouldnt be as crazy as this fight. Both are stupid fights though, im not condoning a match between Floyd and Pavlik

It cannot be more conceivable, because the De La Hoya-Pacquiao fight IS actually happening - no conception required.

Mayweather-Pavlik is far less conceivable because it is not happening, and Mayweather would NEVER EVER EVER not in a billion years take a fight with Kelly Pavlik, whereas Pacquiao HAS already taken the Oscar fight.

Nah. I think Pavlik wouldn't take it on GP. Classic lose-lose situation and he doesn't seem the type to hold one of these joke 'events' when there are still good fights for him at 160-175. He's no dummy, he sees the backlash DLH got.

I jusT meant cuz they are closer in weight classes. Pav is the middle weight champ and Floyd just won a JM weight strap. But yeah, I AGREE Floyd would never figth him IMO..

Floyd Mayweather was the best defensive fighter in the game up until his retirement...Kelly Pavlik hits hard but if he don't land that home run punch he gets beat over 12 rounds Floyd has to much speed...won't get tired...and is very selective with his punches you can't speed him up or take him out of his game plan....I've never seen Pavlik fight anybody with the ring intelligence as Mayweather or any of the other things that Floyd brings to the ring...Pavlik needs a KO...Floyd needs to survive.

It's really a fight of will.
