I think this would be a great fight. Margo certainly has the chin to walk through Floyds best shots and with his relentless pressure he WOULD get to him eventually. The question is whether Floyd would crack under the pressure like Cotto.
The plaster is only good if you can hit the target. Floyd would of still beat Margarito, because Margarito has no head movement, he's slow and throws to many wide shots.
Margarito had the stamina, size, aggression and chin to reach anyone; Floyd is no exception. He may eat shots for 8 rounds but Floyd is not a big puncher, Margarito would eventually get him on the ropes.
Floyd was best at 130. I don't think he's as good at 147, especially with a huge welter in Margartio. Not to mention Corrales didn't have close to the chin of Margo.
Margo flat footed ass would get dominated. Floyd would win all 12 rounds against him. Margo might bring pressure but he will get tagged and Floyd would be out of range as Margo goes to respond. Too slow, no head movement, flat footed and only knows how to fight one way equals dominating performance for Mayweather. /thread
Conventional wisdom says that Floyd beats Margarito no matter what he has in his gloves because his defense is too good and his offense is too sharp to lose. I agree with this. But having said that, I would have been interested in seeing what Floyd would have done. He's not what I would call a "mover", and if he chose to become one, he'd have to circle the ring more consistently than he'd ever done it before. I don't see him staying in the pocket comfortably for too long either, considering his size and strength. Even when losing badly, Margarito's opponents had to work damn hard, and it would have been real interesting to see Floyd have to work that hard to win the rounds for all 12.
Mayweather before he filled out in to the a true WW - vs the Margarito that beat Cotto is an interesting bout. Whether people say this would be a repeat of Mayweather-Baldomir, or that Margarito is too slow, etc...there are a number of factors that make this bout interesting. Mayweather cannot hurt Margarito IMO. Mayweather can back up on to the ropes by his own choosing - not a good tactic against a much ****** man in Margarito. Margarito will come for the 12 rounds. Margarito has a very good, relentless body attack...his punches will be felt on the arms, through the gloves, etc. Mayweather is much, much quicker of hand and foot (especially before his first retirement) in comparison to Margarito. His defense is literally 100 times better than Margarito's. Margarito would not have as much success as he did against Cotto. Mayweather can make him walk in to traps. Mayweather's IQ is 100 times that of Margarito's.
And many before Margarito had the same thing yet none of them were able to do what you claim Margarito would have. De la Hoya was clearly a better fighter then Margarito and he couldn't do it. Face it Margarito would have lost like all the rest.
atsch Coming from an ******* who failed to respond to what I said. Prove me wrong? Flat footed, no head movement, no defense, and slow. Those are facts about Margarito. You don't know **** about boxing *****. You mad
