People always say that a prime De La Hoya beats Floyd.... Oscar lost to Trinidad in what alot would call his prime, and even if Oscar did technically win that fight, it was still closer than alot of people say. Lost Clearly once to SSM... Now im not saying i think Floyd walks all over Oscar, i just think that people are underrating PBF's ability. Oscar was clearly not unbeatable and Floyd is a very very intelligent and smart fighter on the inside and outside. Floyd beat him at 154, a weight Floyd had never fought at, Oscar choose gloves, purse, ring size and was fresh off a 6 Round KO of Mayorga which he demonstrated a good level of Speed and power in. I give total respect ot the fighter Oscar was in his prime, he was powerful, quick, agile, incredibly explosive and a brilliant finisher. But id take PBF over Oscar 8 times out of 10 and id pick PBF over Oscar in his prime. To smart, agile and quick.
People really hate Floyd, so all of his accomplishments are talked down on this website. In short, there are a lot of ****ing haters around.
its because if ODLH managed an SD when he was shot, imagine what he would have done in his prime. btw both Oscar and Floyd started their careers at 130. personally I don't think its a good measurement stick but I do think Floyd is vastly overrated (people say he is greater than RJJ, gimme a ****ing break). It would've been a good, close fight
Floyd has a better chin than quartay, and a better right hand. Quartay spanked Oscar with the right for 5 or 6 straight rounds. My Point is Floyd beats Prime Oscar. Good Fight though, but prime or old Oscar doesn't adjust well during a fight. How could he beat floyd
who cares delahoya has always been over rated. I promise a prime shane mosley would destroy floyd faster hits harder, and takes a better punch.
yea, I could see a prime Shane beating Floyd..."gr8fight" is right than Oscar doesn't adjust well though. Although in De La Hoya's defense he was successful with his jab against Floyd, but abandoned it which didn't help at all.
shane doesnt adjust well either though...once he cant over power you or if you dont engage and box him he never had an answer for it
yea that's true as well...but I'm not sure how Mayweather would engage him. It'd depend on where they stand in time, like is it a pre-Vernon Forrest Shane Mosley? ... as well as how De La Hoya went into the Mayweather fight looking for a knockout (as does everybody else) and it just doesn't happen. It doesn't seem as if anybody wants to fight smart, or if Mayweather's so smart everyone else looks kinda stupid in their gameplan.
well he wouldnt engage of course but he would just box mosley's ears off...if you noticed every 1 of shane's loses came from someone outboxing him...and it wasnt that hard to do
what about a 147 Vernon Forrest? How do you think he'd do against a 147 Floyd Mayweather? I mean besides his loses to Mayorga, he's a pretty good boxer.
Thats Not an easy fight. Forrest is a big welter. Floyd would have to use a lot of faints and work inside and outside. MD for Floyd, but NOT EASY
