Actually, more than 9 people would follow Floyd overseas. I would fully expect all 12 people in Floyd's "entourage" to follow him--as long as they are getting an incentive ($$$$$). Floyd will always be a "draw" when he fights draws. I'd like to see how may Floyd would draw in the states if he fought Luis Collazo. 5,000 mabye?
Congrats to both fighters, Ricky has never headlined a PPV and Floyd needed a name and sight style like Ricky, So they both needed each other. Great Numbers and they will probably exceed that when the count total is final.
Exactly!! They pretend Mayweathers not a draw, not even realizing that he(Freddy) had 50 ppl at his house to see him even if it was to see him, it wasn't Hatton they were there for!!
A relative told me that she was out in vegas and there was a huge crowd for the Merryweather fight :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl I said "you mean Mayweather", she said "who? No I'm pretty sure it was Merryweather" My friends literally wanted to see the fight JUST because of the HBO show. It's obvious, those 24/7 series are genious....as long as they don't overdue them. 1 or 2 a year and thats it. The biggest obstacle to getting casual sports fans back into boxing is getting them familiarized with specific fighters. Boxing is waaaay too dispersed and spread out. How is someone supposed to get interested and start following. The normal person doesn't know any of the prime fighters, and there is no readily available way to see them, oh wait you can pay 49.95 to see two random guys fight on PPV and hopefully you will like one of them and pay to see their next fight....yeah sure atsch The 24/7 series makes people think that they know a little about the fight, they in turn formulate and opinion and prediction and therefor want to see it.
i'm a hatton fan...but the majority just wanted to see floyd lose....most of them know hatton, but are not fans...
It safe to say that Floyd has some drawing power becuase best believ this many people didn't tune in to Hatton's previous fights w/Urango Castillo or Maussa ..Floyd's draw only comes (no diffrent than Hopkins )when its a good dance partner ..
You do realize that Hatton is not a name here, and those fans at the Castillo fight were his, and it still wasn't sold out!:nono Those PPV # here in America are 85-90% Mayweathers!
Wrong, about 30-40% of those PPV buys were directly related to the 24/7 series. And if the next 24/7 series is on a rematch between Tito and Hoya, say for example, every one of those buyers will purchase that as well......and not one of them will pay to see Mayweather fight the next week, if he happens to. The fighters had nothing to do with it, it was all HBO and the promoters :deal
actually , no.... i'm talking about hardcore boxing fans....i bought it cause i'm a ricky fan...everybody knows i always get the fights so they just show up.....it's hard to find mayweather fans....and when i do, they dont know **** about the sport, only him....kind of how they are on here..
Well I had about 30 ppl, and only one person outside of me, and the wife knew who Hatton was! Take your 50, and my 30 now we have 80, Hatton has one fan out of that 80 that being you. That would mean 79 of those ppl either fans of Mayweather, my 30, or wanted to see him lose, your 49 pretty much making Mayweather the reason they were all there,... in other words "making him the draw" correct? I know that's not the demographic everywhere, but that damn sure is onesided! :good
You do realize you're speculating. Not everyone has HBO!:nono I'm sure 24/7 helped, but again you're speculating that they bought the fight only becaue of 24/7. Mayweathers face has been all over the media the last 6months, so I'm sure that helped alot! Dancing w/the starts I'm sure had a much bigger part in the outcome than 24/7! Also I'm sure 24/7 got a bigger audience because of him being on Dancing w/the Stars and the previous 24/7. The promotion was awesome, but again not everyone has access or knows this **** is going on. They just go off a name and date, and a poster sometimes! Give credit where it due Beware!! Mayweather has done well to put himself out there! He is a draw!!
