Where were these tools against Guerrero? You have to admit Guerrero was very limited, why couldn't Mayweather switch it up and show his tricks? It took him to break his hand before he threw anything other than strictly the straight right pot shot. It was a poor performance, if Floyd is afraid to engage and put on a show against the likes of Guerrero that says a lot about where he's at right now.
If you're outclassing a guy with your C or B game, then why bother bringing out anything more? Rigo can fight down to his competition too. He was getting hurt by Cordova and Marroquin, but schooled Donaire. and how are you going to criticize Floyd for not engaging enough? He engages a hell of a lot more than Rigo does. And this is coming from a big Rigondeaux fan.
who's going to run and pot shot? That's who i have my money on. Fight and flight then fight and flight some more, wins.
Rigondeaux was in his first 12 round fight against Cordoba on an undercard fight (he was never hurt in that fight btw), and was against a bigger opponent who could bang with Marroquin; in an insignificant fight that he dominated. Floyd is a superstar in his first fight on showtime. He got paid $32 million. He's fighting an inferior opponent on the big stage. That's not the time to bring your C or B game. He has absolutely no excuse for playing the potshotting game against an opponent of that calibre. Rigo engaged far more against Donaire while staying in the range of danger, while Mayweather kept outside of range of Guerrero and used his falling in right hand to gain points. It was a pathetic performance, if he doesn't care about putting on a show then he can't be upset when fans boo and when fans turn away. I'd be the biggest Floyd fan there is if he fought legit competition, but he's fighting these sort of scrubs and not even putting on a show. That sort of performance would be masterful if he did the same thing to Canelo, Martinez, Garcia etc. but not against that blown up lightweight who was only there because he beat Jeff Lacy mk.II (Berto). Disgraceful showing by Floyd, if he is that terrified of taking punches from Guerrero then he needs to retire now.
ok he was hurt by Marroquin and knocked down against Cordova if that makes it any better. and Floyd is trying to make sure he preserves himself at 36 so he can fight 5 more times over the next 30 months. I'm glad he fought the way he did tonight, because it insures he'll fight in September. And stop with the nonsense. Rigondeaux doesn't engage more than Floyd does at all. He didn't do it more against Donaire. I had no problem with it though and enjoyed his fight. If you're fighting a guy like Donaire, you're gonna want to be healthy. But you'll never see Rigondeaux give us a Mayweather/N'Dou or a Mayweather/Cotto type fight
