What's the verdict on this? Do you guys still think he struggles with them? People say he struggles with them, but most think he'd beat Sergio and Pac. Some even said Ortiz was tailor-made for Floyd despite him being southpaw and 14 pounds bigger.

I personally think he used to have a tad bit of more trouble with them compared to orthodox fighters, but I think now he's starting to master them. Most fighters have problems with southpaws, but Floyd did better vs them compared to most fighters.

    What do yall think?

The only time I've seen him struggle with a Southpaw was his second fight and that was a 4 rounder. Outside of 1 or 2 moments, he was completely dominant againt Corley. He wiped out Mitchell. Zab had a couple of rounds where he had sustained success. From round 5 on though, he wad shutdown. We all saw what happened against Ortiz.

Floyd is a defensive wizard, so he's been training on how to deal with punches coming from orthodox, the majority of boxers and opponents, angles the majority of his life

southpaw punches come from different angles, so we seen him get caught with 3-4 good shots from them in a few of his fights against them

the thing is Floyd isn't a stupid fighter at all, he adjusts and makes sure that **** doesn't ever land again

so no he doesn't struggle with them

Zab Judah's success had more to do with Zab Judah than it did the stance

I agree with both of you guys. I was mostly asking this toward the guys who think he struggles with them.

I think Ortiz caught Floyd because of rustiness, Floyd slowing down a little and him not being used to the southpaw angles, but it's a minuscule problem.
We're used to Floyd being unscathed so if one little punch gets through, people jump the gun and say he's not good vs SP. It's just weird because despite that, he's the favourite right now to beat the 2 best southpaws in the world

he's probably in the gym sparring with lefties 24/7 as you speak:hey

the majority of his most likely opponents are lefties

Most of it is wishful thinking by people who want to see Mayweather lose. It's hard to imagine how an undefeated fighter who hasn't shown any particular weakness is defeated, especially when they have beat almost every "type" of fighter out there.

I think all fighters have issues with southpaw to some degree. I'm sure it takes him out of his "comfort-zone".

Ortiz is a bad example because he is a tree.. a tree that stands tall and upright while coming in. Ortiz doesn't really throw from angles.. so really Mayweather didn't have to change what he did that much.

Well he is better against orthodox fighters just like any fighter so people think that he struggles but in reality he does better than most against southpaws :good

Floyd's knowledge of boxing is so profound that I actually don't think he is that troubled by them. He fights them differently and knows what adjustments have to be made when dealing with them.

I think Mayweather has the tools to fight a prime Sweet Pea to a cautious draw.

He struggles with them in the sense that he gets hit more often and gets caught with punches you normaly dont see him get hit by. But that's what happens when you fight out of your comfort zone a little.

    Has he lost to any?

seriously though i think floyd doesnt bother with the jab as much as he likes to lead off with the right hand. he gets more success noticably against lefties with a lead right hand. and if he feels comfortable doing that thats what hes going to do.
