Just read this on the scene that is boxing. Interesting. Good for Marquez. He has no business at 147. Floyd should try fighting a legitimate WW in his prime. That would be an interesting fight. I hear Williams is currently looking for opponents....

"Money May" at his finest yet again.

Floyd can make the drop down to 135, why's he so worried?? Oh yah .. because he's a cherry picking ***** like his counter part De La Hoya. I agree with you, Floyd, stop trying to pull a De La Hoya and fight a real welter.

Oh I know ... Cotto, a fight that should of happened before Floyd flaked out and fed us some crap about "retirement".

Fair play to Marquez. He shouldn't be fighting at 147.

Marquez has no biz fighting at 147, not when he hasn't even had a fight at 140. why would Floyd have a problem fighting JMM at 140? Floyd is a natural lightweight, 140 is not an unreasnable weight for this match up.

Yep , 140 is questionable for JMM (personally, I don't think he belongs in the ring above 135), but 147 is crazy. Floyd will destroy him. And what's gained? Floyd beats another fighter fighting at a weight well above his natural weight: Zzzzz. Cotto, Mosley, Williams...fight a WW, Floyd!

mayweather should STFU and get his ass to 140
jmm is already on his way up
    had 2 bouts a lightweight
know he is willing to go up again to 140
floyd needs to fix up - he's becoming the new oscar de la hoya

JMM should've never considered this fight, too brave for his own good. For a career FW, not a guy who easily moves up and never stop growing, I see LW as the end of the road at age 35. It just doesn't make sense. Juan Diaz was already strong enough to push him back and apply effective pressure, and he's a small, weak LW. What Marquez did was to use his superior abilities and handspeed to overcome the disadvantages, adapt and finish the fight with great punching power. But unlike the shot, drained, years older DLH with a bad left shoulder who fought a young, prime PacMan who moves up in weight easily, JMM never became bigger when moving up, he's the older one vs. PBF, Floyd wouldn't be drained, over the hill or unable to use his effective left hand due to shoulder injury. PacMan never moved up to fight Margarito. He moved up to fight someone who was trained by the same trainer before, who clearly saw the signs of decline and the opportunity to shine. No shining for JMM vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Terrible career move by JMM, and shame on Floyd for considering this, instead of Cotto when was undefeated, Margarito when was champ, Mosley or Williams now. A loss to JMM would put him in the same shoes as Winky were: a topP4P-er loses and looking bad in it, logically getting much lower offers the next time than before, which would be unacceptable. Stupid move, unless JMM wants a last payday, but I think he's looking for a glory he can't reach.

I don't blame Floyd this time. He was called out by the guy, JMM is not a huge money draw, and Floyd hasn't fought at 140 in 4 years. The fact of the matter is although we all would like Floyd to fight the most elite names, sometimes the weights just won't work. Floyd shouldn't have to move straight down in his comeback, and JMM shouldn't have to jump all the way up in weight. This is just one of those matchups where the fight sounds good, but the situation just doesn't quite add up.

    that's bang on that is
i said from the start he shouldnt fight floyd, it is a mis-match
but then you could see that marquez has got too much balls and hes going for the big legacy know
i think he should stay at lightweight, even though the fights are not as big
until pac decides he wants to make the third fight

i mean a valero-jmm fight aint too bad or jmm fight the winner of valero-guzman
