That Dawson was the best fighter p4p after he "retired". Now I know Dawson does not have the resume Pac does, and probably wont ever get the chance to build that resume because a - no one wants to fight him and b - light heavy is not a very popular div anyways. But... the guy does it all, has it all, except 1 punch KO power. Believe me when I tell you that he will keep Pavlik, Abraham, Kessler, Bute... away from 175. If they do come up he beats all of them. I do have tremendous respect for Hops, and I cant understand why he hasnt stepped up yet, but Hops loses this one too IMHO. And I think he knows it. Right now no one can even challenge him at 175. Dawson is the perfect example of everything that is wrong with boxing. Same for Paul Williams. Politics and money dont let the best shine like they should. You thoughts?
I agree that Dawson is underrated and i think he should be in every credible pound for pound list but hes not the best pound for pound fighter in the world aslong as Pac and JMM are still going strong.
Right now IMHO he is better then both but not as accomplished as both. If the top guys around would be willing to fight him this wouldnt be in question.
JMM's probably the most well-schooled boxer right now so, no. but Dawson is P4P talent. best boxer 160 and up.
No-one remember the Glen Johnson fight then? Dawson was incredibly lucky to get that decision, IMO. Dawson has got some skills but he is far from being the best in the world P4P, IMO.
Let the Dawson hype begin. I rate Dawson highly but there is no way he can be considered top 8 P4P right now. I got Dawson beating BHOP because of his age but maybe Pascal could rise to be the big rival Dawson needs to get some shine.
In boxing, skills is not everything... You got show other qualities of a great boxer like heart and guts... How you would handle adversity and rough times... Chad needs to show more since his accomplishment is not yet on that level... .
Close fight but I wouldnt say lucky to get the decision. Glen Johnson is always in close fights without being overly talented himself, to tell you the truth. But I think that Dawson has grown alot since then, and should handle Johnson handily next time. By the way when I say best p4p Im throwing hype out, just for the fun of it. He hasnt proved that he is that yet, but I do believe that given the opportunity he can be. The tools are there.
- I think going south to 168 is a mistake because it makes me think he will lose a lot of his attributes. - At 175 he beats Froch (who I like), Kessler (I like this guy also), Bute, Pascal (may be a good fight this one - two highly athletic gladiators) and Andre Ward (who was very impressive against Miranda). - I think he also beats Hopkins, and he will conquer Glen Johnson.
Dawson looked like crap against old man Tarver and got lucky on the cards against Johnson. Has he truly dominated the fighters he has gone up against? NOPE.
I can only remember one close fight (Johnson) where he won with 3 116-112 cards. Otherwise who was it that he didnt beat convingly enough for you?
