Dawson isn't there because the only live candidate he's beaten is Adamek, who has since shown he had weight issues at 175.

Tarver and Johnson rate as impressive wins, but they're wins a guy who is champion should definitely have, they're no better in my view than the sorts of things that guys like Hatton had on their career, defeating past their prime fighters.

Only Hatton was a bit more decisive in most of his fights.

Dawson is waiting to get wrecked, which is why he's avoiding the younger fighters.

Alot like a Morales who who couldnt even share the ring with Raheem? Or a Larios who never beat anyone important in his entire career?

Now dont get me wrong, Johnson is not the most skilled guy, neither is he a top contender at this point, but like I keep saying, if you dont have the power to slow him in his traks he will give you a hard fight. Young fighters wont look like world beaters every time out unless they are expertly matched up. It is what it is.

yeah guys from the top of the pound for pound rankings always struggle with 40 yr old ex strap holders !

Come on , Chad Dawson is so monsterously overrated here its not even funny. His biggest atributte is a US passport (which he'll probably never use !) A good fighter how has come along when US fans are crying out for decent homegrown fighters that all.

Can't say he's better than both till he proves his abilities against top fighters. He's still going strong and the big fights are going to come anyway so it's a bit early now but he's definitely a serious candidate to get there.

Dawson needs to be fighting the other young guys in his division, something he refuses to do, having been called out and refusing fights.

Despite the losses, I'd take Braehmer to beat Dawson.

Dawson is a good fighter but is boring to see thats for sure, but he has defensive flaws and his chin is not that great so sometime He makes the fight interesting.

Your spot on with that comment :good

If Dawson was a British fighter, how many on here would be coming out saying "he's fought nobody, he looked poor against ageing fighters, he's just a good European level fighter etc etc."

Dawson is a good boxer, a top 20 boxer, but needs some big performances in his next few fights in my opinion. Labouring to points wins over Glen Johnson and Tarver does'nt really make me sit up and think, wow, this guy will be the next big thing!

On another note, but related to your article: what's up with the "if you're not black, you don't deserve P4P status" attitude with a lot of people in here??? :yikes Disgusting s**t!

I am in complete disagreement with this and tend to think if Dawson were European, it would be criminal to have him in any P4P top 10.

He's yet to prove himself the dominant force is a weak division (granted it's not his fault B-Hop wont fight him), but I fail to see what more he's accomplished than Kessler, Abraham, Valero, Adamek, Haye, Bradley etc. How does beating a washed up Tarver twice and struggling with an old Johnson put you ahead in the P4P ranking over a guy that's unified his division (Haye)?? And I can't see any justification for having him ahead of Wlad and I don't like Wlad at all!!!

Sure he's got skills, and he could very well be top 3 one day....but you're asking him to be ranked just on talent and as we've seen recently with Ortiz, it's difficult to know how talented someone really is until they face elite fighters!!! Besides which, if we were judging on talent alone I still don't think he would be in my top 10 and Donaire and Juanma would be top 5 for sure!!!

Hopkins v Dawson would really tell us just about everything we need to know about where Chad Dawson`s level is at, Id look forward to that fight just out of fascination of their style clash.

He has done more than guys like Donaire who is ranked 7 by the GBP mag based on one good win over Vic,or even Vazquez a guy that even though im a big fan of him hasnt fought in almost two years.
