He was pulling his punches all night. He felt bad for the smaller man. I respect Floyd for that. Dude's a humanitarian.
I noticed it too, right after the 2nd round. It could have been Mayweather vs Corrales all over again. The left hook couldn't miss if he wanted to take him out. That was very respectful.
Thats what Floyd did. He tried to take him out quick. Once he seen how tough Marquez was he knew to take him out he would have to pummel him which you could tell he did not want to do b/c of the size disadvantage. He tried to go for the quick uppercut KO that was a millisecond late. But Floyd hands are fast as ****. Faster than when he left.
Oh My the things these groupies come up with,he didnt koed him cause he takes caution to the limit and hes scared of getting hit not cause he carried JMM.
No boxer wants to be in the ring any longer than he needs to be..... He was not pulling his punches, he was fighting his normal, relatively cautious fight...
I agree he didnt go in for the kill, to be honest I was waiting for it in the last three or four rounds when he was literally standing in front of Marquez not even doing his usual slipping around the ring taking potshots at him. I think he just decided to let Marquez finish the fight in the end.
I sometimes wonder whether Floyd is protecting his hands when he decides to back off in these situations. He seemed loathe to throw the right hand all night long.
Seriously, that is the way it appeared . . . especially considering that he rarely even threw the right.
That's true but mentally Marquez would be far worse if he was KO'd in two, look at Hatton's mentality and view towards the sport after his last loss, that should explain it. Mayweather tried to finish him sometimes but Marquez kept throwing back, no one can deny that. The man wasn't there to quit he was going to try even if he dies in the ring he would keep pushing, that's what he always told people he does and always proves it even in losing. Marquez deserves respect, not mercy. The man is a proven warrior and an accomplished great. He tried to do the impossible but couldn't, at least he TRIED, that's what separates great fighters from frauds. He put his self in a position where people LAUGHED at him and gave him no chance, that's the type of risk great fighters with great hearts and mentalities take. Mayweather should do the same soon.
True, and I'm not of necessarily of the opinion that Floyd took it easy on JMM, but maybe he knew that JMM would keep getting up, similar to the Corrales fight?
No. Mayweather didn't knock Marquez out because Marquez has the heart of a lion, and punched his way out of danger time and time again. Mayweather isn't going to stand and trade, so if you attack him while you're in danger he goes on the defensive and you buy yourself some time. Mayweather isn't an aggressive fighter,.
