In 2006 he said 2007 was going to be his last year because he needed a break from boxing, probably due to the frequent hand injuries he was getting at time. Plus when he announced that in 2006, the only guy in the division was Margarito.

Just admit it, Fraud retired so that the field will naturally clear out. Cotto will fight Margarito, Williams will fight Margarito, etc.

The only thing missing is Fraud will fight ......

Because fighters usually get more recognition when they retire.

Also he wanted the story of coming back again and being good. Like Ali and many others.

He did not need to, but will do anything to fabricate greatness.

LMAO@all the dumb ass Pacquiao losers in this thread talking absolute nonsense.

Their own posts contradict and disprove their own fanciful notions!

They're nearly as funny as this:

    just not quite.

    I'm actually embarrassed for them.

Why retire at the momment when a division gets so competitive ?
Why did he not clean the division before retiring ?

There is never a good time to retire, and he had to do it before he got too old so he could come back and be sure to be no. 1 again.

His retirement and comeback was not a dumb unplanned one.. where a fighter really thinks he will never come back, and then gets bored or poor - and therefore suddenly comes back as 44 year old.

Floyd's comeback was carefully planned to provide him with the best story line resume and therefore he could do it early and come back relatively early.
