he tries to fight the way he fought everyone post marquez. staying in center, feeling out his oppenent for first 3 rounds while stealing it with 2 or 3 well placed light counters, from 3rd to 8th, when his opponents get frusturated and make more mistakes, he opens up little more and wins every round.. from 8 to 12 his opponents are beaten mentally already, so he just goes through the motions to clean UD. the reason for that is, all his opponents are nervious wreck for the first 3, a frusturated bull for the mid rounds, and embarassed clown the final rounds. This is not to discredit mayweather, he obviously makes his oppoents ordinary with his skill and pre fight mindgames. Pac will be different from those guys, he uses quick feints, in and out quick jabs to body, pivots while moving his head while punching from odd angles, speed, power, flexibility, experience, he is an aging tiger, floyd needs to stop concentrating on counter punching alone because that won't be enough.
I agree. I think we're gonna see Floyd fight him coming forward with a high guard for most of the fight. He'll be mixing it up. He has to.
This, him using the shoulder roll allows pac to get close. Using his high gaurd instead, allows him to counter with straight shots and more room to move as needed.
Does Floyd counter 4, 5 punch combinations though? I know he'll counter single shots, maybe two, but he usually covers up when anything more than that is thrown at him. Then, in the instances of Pac being walked down, he usually amps up his pressure to get them off, throwing more punches to pressure them or at least distract so he can slip around them back to the center of the ring. But, I'll be proud of Floyd if he tries to walk Manny down. That means we will get a really good fight! If Floyd brings the fight to him, you know Manny will love that way more than having to cut off the ring/chase him.
One of the reasons I think Pac will lose a lot of rounds is because of how frustrated he gets with counter punchers. He showed much better patience with Bradley but Marquez often baited him into making mistakes. Overcommitting and whatnot. With Floyd being the longer man, he can maintain a longer range than Marquez could, and bait him the same way. Pacquiao will have his moments when Floyd is against the ropes, but otherwise I see Pacquiao eating a TON of right hands.
For this to be a reality, Floyd would have to throw a ton and be very active. Do you see him turning his offensive output up?
And for the people who want to see Pacquiao "attempted" to get walked down, watch the Margarito fight. Not many people do it, and for good reason, but he tried, lol. Round 4 is a good one. Margarito throws up that high guard and tries to keep Pac on his back foot. Man oh man. I just can't see Mayweather, who doesn't like to get hit, using this method.
Floyds jab will dictate the entire fight. Pac has no jab. His only chance is to jump in and out the entire fight using that feint big left, right hook combo, and that won't beat Floyd.
Yeah, that's another thing... will Mayweather be busy enough to outpoint Pac? IF, and a big if, Pacquiao can land... will potshots and timely counters be enough to win him rounds? If Pac is throwing 80 punches and landing at least 30%?
Pac is not going to be landing on Floyd like that. People think that Pac is going to land on Floyd because he throws combos lol. Floyd is more elusive than a snow Leopard. That's the difference between the two, defense.
I think he's going to land on Floyd because his straight left hand is the fastest punch he's ever had to defend against. I think the combos pac throws are going to help steal some rounds :deal
Reread my post, I'm not talking about Floyd walking him down, I'm talking about him feinting and countering. Doesn't require a ton of activity for that.
I've always wondered the same thing. Pacquiao will easily out work Floyd. Only thing to note is Floyd's opponents usually throw less punches than usual when they fight him. Floyd will have no choice but to up his activity, unless he's just making Pac miss that much.
