It's cool his legacy will live on because he founded 24/7, fought for stronger drug testing, and stylistically influences younger boxers. Floyd's a pioneer in his own right, the very first defensive wizard to become a mega draw. He made a message for every other boxer: you don't need to have a high risk style in order to become a PPV star.
1. I like watching him in the ring. He's an amazing fighter. 2. His actions outside the ring make me not like him as a person. 3. He won't fight any of the fights I want to see him in (except Cotto, which was great), so I'm not going to miss any "legendary fights", because he doesn't have any. 4. I think he will be remembered as a great talent and a flamboyant figure, but not as a legendary warrior. 5. I can see him going into commentating after he retires.
I have been watching Boxing live since Mike Tyson first fall and Floyd is the best boxer I have seen since.. I have been just genuinely dissapointed on him how things turned out when he started jumping higher divisions. Floyd became prize fighter(is it the right word for it?:huh) and the money fights became more important than the most importand and the most exciting ones. I think it is just shame because Floyd could have beaten them all in great fights(But I guess the reality is that you just can not have them all, wishfull thinking). He is truely some sort of virtuoso of the rings he really is. I dont know **** about boxing but when he is fighting it looks like perfection. Guy just does not do mistakes and usually makes his opposition look like they dont belong in the same ring with him.. And the older Floyd has come the more aggressive he has became which is entertaining in my eyes. I dont think he is as aggressive what he was in lower weights when he was young but still. I fukin hate his personality outside the ring, I fukin hate him. But I wont let that affect how I judge him as a fighter inside the ring(which is only what matters and should be!). floyd is terrific fighter, one of a kind. If he retired now You could say Floyd has one of the best careers ever.. Sure there are alot of fights what could have happened but didnt but you can not blame Floud for them solely. I wish Floyd would really, I mean really come out of his shield before retires and do some mad **** and take guy like Sergio Martinez or who ever is the middleweight champ at that time. Win or lose that would be something for his already A++ career. Edit. I think it took as long as Shane fight when I truely had no choice but give the man credit what he deserved and stop bitching. Before Shane I wanted him to lose every single fight. I am not sure what turned my mind, was it I finally realised nobody was gonna beat him if ever did.
The sport will always miss talent like this. It rings so much more true with Pacquiao, Marquez, Mayweather and possibly Wladimir because there doesn't look to be anyone who can hold a candle to their talent. There are some good fighters out there but...no one on that tier.
*******s have become very rare since Pac's loss to Marquez in Nov and then Bradley. You guys were in much greater numbers before Nov 2011 but now you ******'s have dissapeared so don't speak on **** you don't know anything about. D
Difficult to say at this stage really. Weight categories between 135lb - 152lb is such a huge talent pool with so many up and comers ie: Thurman, Broner, Brook, Canelo, Gamboa, Rios (Even Khan). Any of these guys have the potential to be big hitters, commanding large paydays. The problem is that no one (as it stands) will be able to do any of the numbers or create the same type of buzz and excitement as Floyd (or even Manny). Regarding Tim Bradley, he is a great talent and a nice enough guy, but his fighting style isn't exactly 'fan friendly' and I'm not sure he has the charisma to counteract this to become a massive draw. We are lucky to have a vast amount of talent in the wings, some with the personalities and charisma to match, but boxing will DEFINITELY see a void when Floyd does decide to retire. He gets his fair share of haters but he's one of a kind and, without doubt, the best of his era.
