floyd will beat manny....

    ok, i know there are possibly a million and one threads re:this fight, but i had not seen the cotto fight and watched it yesterday...yes, manny was very impressive...but he did get hit early..quite often....and when did he get hit..??..when cotto stuck to his boxing and used his jab....now, is there a better 'boxer', not fighter, on the planet than pbf..??...

    im not belittling pacmans achievements, he is a phenom, no doubt....yet, i cant help but feel that his greates achievemnts have been against fighters past their peak..hatton was not the same guy after mayweather..(nb, i actualy thought pacman and hatton would be a tremendous fight and that hatton woudl compete, but i underestimated manny...)...de la hoya was a weight drained shell...surely??...in fact, cotto may well have been his most impressive performance, evn thoughh, again, he hasnt looked himself since magarito took him out....could manny have gained a fortuitously elevated palce in boxing due to being in the right place at the right time and making the right matches..??....again, devils advocate here, i think the guys amazing....

    its just that, im no mayweatehr fan..gimme a fighter over a boxer any day..but i cant help but think that manny looked a tad uncomfortable when cotto got behind his boxing....an that nobody boxes better than pbf....he is hard to hit, elusive, fast of hand and foot, and his demolition of marquez, who, again, perhaps isnt the same fighter he was and was the smaller man, was very impressive....i think pbf is playing the will he wont he game to build demand..and indeed money..for the fight..i think he wants the fight because in all eventualltiy, it may prove to be a relaitively low risk, but be perceived as a very high risk, fight, and as such will make him millions and cement his legacy....im sure pbf will beat pacman, maybe even stop him.,.....but i hate to say it.....

    I agree. I would love to see Manny beat Floyd, but I don't think he'll be able to pull it off.

    he aint fighting floyd the same way. what pac has is explosive speed to match floyds defensive skills. expect roach to tighten the defence and be smarter against floyd.this will be a tough fight for both.

    im not the type of guy who changes his mind about a fighter after there last bout. i look and analyse there style and ability to cope with similar potential situations and then make my decsion, which is why im ryt most of the tym. pacquiao vs floyd will be a very dirty fight with a lot of floyd holding but floyd will win via UD, becuz pac would get hit with a lot of straight clean right hands. also floyd will duck low a lot so pacs cominations will only land 20%ish

    What about speed and power...do you think that Manny is as fast as and hits as hard as, if not harder, than Floyd?

    i think manny is faster but that doesnt mean more effective. floyd hits you but at the same tym there fast, mostly single or double punches and he keeps his deffense tight to avoid counters.

    pacquiao on the other hand lands punches in bunches very fast, and is actually open to counters which if a fighter like floyd takes the opportunity then he can halt the combination

    Floyd throws faster single/pot shots. Pacman throws faster combos (Mainly because floyd hardly throws any combos). Manny defo hits harder than floyd. Pacman vs Floyd will be Floyds toughest test to date. Floyd will definitely land the cleaner shots however Pacman will get points for being the aggressor and also for landing alot more glancing shots..i.e. if Floyd lands 1 clean shot and Pacman lands 10 glancing shots..Pac would be ahead on points.

    i think he has the power..indeed, i dont see why its such a mystery he 'carried' his power up the weights..he has added muscle...so power..and he can punch..if you can punch, you can punch..simple...unorthodox technique for sure, but mannys timing and spped are excellent....that said, i just think floyd has the style and more importantly reflexes to pretty much negate this potential power advantage, and, wether mayweather has the power to gain pac's respect or not, if manny eats enough straight rights down the pipe, it will have an effect....i get he feeling floyd will be loving the fact that everyone thimks this is such a challenge for him, but i think, inside, he relishes the chance to play matador to mannys little bull.....and we all know how that usually works out for the bull.....

    You are belittling his achievement. I can easily make a counter argument but I will not.

    Anyway, Cotto-Pacquiao fight. True, Pacquiao was getting hit by jabs. But didn't you notice how Pacquiao adjusted to Cotto's punches and countered him. He took away Cotto's left and made him missed. :bbb

    If he's that good defensively, why did Floyd only manage a SD against Oscar. Floyd's face looked battered worse than ODLH.

    Before the Cotto fight i thought Floyd will be able to hurt Manny with his single shots, rock him, and knock him out...

    But now...I dont think Floyd has the power to hurt Manny with single shots...

    He will need to plant his feet and go toe to toe if he want to hurt Manny...

    I think Manny will be able to take most of what Floyd gives

    Got to say i agree with the thread starter. I'm a bigger fan of Pac but i can see Floyd picking Manny apart in this one. Marquez showed us the blueprint to giving Manny problems and that was to keep a good defence and counter... the 2 things FMJ does better than any fighter of this generation. Hope i'm wrong though.
