FLOYD will face danny garica next...

I'm a Floyd fan and it is a **** fight. Floyd would win every second of every round vs Garcia. Garcia has less of chance of winning than Guerrero.

BUT there's not a lot out there for Floyd. If he plans on having 5 more fights, it's no surprise Garcia's name would be thrown in the mix.

 

I love Garcia the kid is an exciting fighter but cmon he isnt anywhere in the same league as Mayweather. how low can these people stoop to squeeze out that dumb ass contract.

 

Good fight, good fight. Like the way Garcia is being handled. Hope one day he does face Floyd but hoping Floyd has his sight on Saul.

 

Garcia is way too slow for someone like Floyd. Canelo is much better option.

 

Garcia would land some nice counters in the opening rounds, but as that fight goes down the stretch he will get hurt. Look like Berto by round 8

Terrible fight, Garcia has nothing to threaten Floyd. However, he's barely left with many good options, but that's not to say that I would want to see yet another gimme. So what are the other options? Canelo would be better, though not really on Floyd's level, it would be a hell of a lot more interesting than this. Khan is an interesting one, despite all his flaws and his loss to Garcia, his style is actually a good matchup against Floyd - it would be a far more interesting fight than Garcia (who has literally no attribute, skill or physical, to leverage any kind of advantage), however the sensible money would be that his chin will betray him when connected with a well timed Floyd counter.

Do people want to see the best fighters challenged or just retire undefeated for their own meaningless bragging rights? Floyd isn't as bad, but Calzaghe drove me absolutely insane with his matchmaking, such a waste of talent in his earlier years. I feel the same kind of thing with Floyd, I don't give a **** if someone is undefeated, I'm just a boxing fan - make some fights that people actually want to see.

 

Canelo vs Mayweather = Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito.
A smaller, superior skilled fighter dominating a flawed power puncher.

 

I think people are selling Canelo a bit short. Cut the man some slack. He showed us things against Trout that we didn't know he was capable of. I think he is a tough opponent for Floyd Mayweather, not to mention it is probably the biggest money fight that can be made in boxing. (honestly, and sadly, FMJ-Pac would probably make more)

As I said before, there is no reason for Mayweather to fight Canelo next when he has five fights left in his contract. That's like the number 1 and number 2 seeds playing in the second round of the playoffs. IMO, FMJ beating Canelo would leave him with nothing left to prove.

Also, I'm seeing I haven't seen anyone give a viable list - an outline, considering there will be variables - of who FMJ's next five opponents should be. With the variables, it's tough to call, but I'll give it a shot...

its not a **** fight if Floyd is trying to make a case as one of the greatest.

danny is arguably the best at 140. if Floyd were to beat Robert, then danny and then canelo and simultaneously hold all three belts then he would do what no other fighter has ever done; hold the jww, ww and sww belts.

perhaps this is floyds plan.

 

So many appropriate fights that can be made at 140 for Garcia starting with the Matthysse/Peterson winner. A fight against Floyd is an unneccesary interuption to the natural order of establishling a true LWW king that is playing out right now.

If Floyd isn't keen on fighting Canelo, yet is set to re-enter the ring in September, he ought to look towards a WW such as Thurman, Alexander, or Brook. (Thurman would be my choice.)

 

I would be love to see something like this:

• Khan (style provides an interesting match up, much more so than the vast majority of other likely opponents who tend to be a poor style match up and/or have no physical attributes to leverage against Floyd to create any uncertainty in outcome. Likely to end in a Khan KO - but that's not the point, it's a better style match up and less certain than a wide UD loss for Garcia or late TKO).
• Martinez (ship sailed a little on this one with Maravilla's recent performances, but still a good fight. While Martinez is a very good fighter, I think he was always a little overrated and none of his individual attributes stand out in comparison to Floyd. That said, it's simply one of the more competitive options)
• Pacquiao (gives him time to get a couple of wins under his belt. Better that this happens now than never).
• Canelo (a couple of wins later for Canelo, if he can still make 154 then the hype for this fight would be tremendous and there could be no accusations of cherry picking a 'green' Canelo)

He should retire after that, there will be a clause in his contract so that he doesn't have to fight 6. Even though 3 of those 4 fights wont be happening at the time that he would have got the most credit, it would still be an very admirable way to end a career.
