Immediately after the Hatton fight I contemplated Mayweather vs Pacquiao and was struggling to see with any certainty who would win this dream match-up were it to actually take place. Pacquiao's ferocity, it seemed, would doubtless give Floyd absolute fits.

How wrong I was. In my opinion if these two ever meet Floyd, if not hindered by the lay off, will undoubtedly school Pac, perhaps even to the point of making him look silly. His style is just too difficult to counter. And it's liquid. Floyd can adapt much better. Than anyone. It's the styles folks, as ever, it's the styles. Pac is made for Floyd. Agree or disagree, let's hope that some time soon we have the chance for me to be proved right or wrong.

This fight needs to happen. For the record I actually think Marquez will provide more of a test for PBF than pac, but I see JMM wearing out down the stretch in a cagey encounter. I love JMM and would love him to win in order to get the rematch with Pac that he so richly deserves, but Juan is just starting to look a little shopworn to me and I can't see him upstaging Floyd. Unfortunately.

So shitty opener for a thread I suppose, but let's try and answer this... Will Mayweather EMBARRASS Pacquiao? I say yes, but any and all input welcomed. Over to you ESB...

A well presented view. IMO, Pacqiuao would also lose but it would be a hell of a fight to watch. PBF loves people to pressure him- that's when he is at his best. For me, Pacman would pressure constantly in this bout, unfortunately, to his own downfall. After he realises this strategy doesn't work he will get reckless and will leave himself open for PBF. I see Mayweather winning on points with Manny gaining even more fans for the way he tries to fight PBF. I'd love to be wrong though- there are few things I would love more than to see PBF be humbled.

I was listening until you said "Marquez will provide more of a test for PBF than Manny" although i feel that Mayweather beats Manny, Mayweather will be tested and PAC has a hell of a chance of beating Floyd..

I like Floyd, too, in this one. I think his size, under-rated power, reach, excellent defense, and ring intelligence will be key factors in this fight. Looking forward to this one.

How is that so controversial when in the eyes of many JMM beat Pac? Marquez IMO is much more likely to HAVE A PLAN against Mayweather. With all due respect you are a F*cking fool my friend!

Great analysis I feel the same. PBF is more versatile and can adapt better. What happens when Pac's all out aggression doesn't work? He's not going to outbox PBF. PBF by UD is the logical pick here.

"Floyd will make Pac look silly" seems a little strong, but PBF will find a way to win.The Hatton and DLH that fought Pac were not the same fighters who were in the ring with PBF.I'm taking nothing away from Pac,cos i realy like the guy (and dont like PBF) but both were shopworn.I'd take PBF by ud or maybe a late stoppage/TKO if Pac got desperate and went head hunting.

Everything in paper may seem reality but it's not. Though I myself highly favor a Floyd win over Pac, I'll believe it when it happens in the ring.

Fredie Roach is a heck of a trainer, and Pac delivers good. They might just have something lined up differently for Floyd. Either way, it would be a very interesting fight.

Not in my eyes son, Pac beat JMM twice and JMM was KD'ed more than once in their bouts, If im using your theory of thinking here does that not mean that Pac is a better fighter than JMM? and Pac and Roach are the Master's of Plan's against contrasting styles' assclown.

Shiiit. JMM schooled Pac for 11 rounds of the first fight and 7 or 8 rounds of the second. We'll have to agree to disagree here Boricua.

No need, I too am picking PBF over JMM and Manny but to say that JMM is more of a test than Manny for floyd is stretching it a bit don't you think, especially since Pac has proven what he can do against some of floyd's similar opponents and how well he has handled moving up in weight.
We will have to wait and see i guess just my opinion.
