Yup, however that is what makes it exciting.

The only consolation is that he ate straight rights from Cotto, Clottey without much damage (except a mark here and there, but not FLOORED like michigay's FLOORED),

Mayweather of today does not employ a whole repertoire of punches. Actually he is becoming quite predictable.

The interesting thing is, Floyd only displayed some punches reportoire against c level past his prime fighter like Gatti

Floyd would definitely notice it and make the adjustment to kill that.

Clottey caught him at will with his straight right...which is worrying for Pacquiao. I'd expect Mayweather's straight right, if he can land it regularly to do more damage than Clottey's shots. Not necessarily because it's a harder shot, but it's a stinging shot...and if he can make Pacquiao walk on to it, it could cause damage, open cuts, etc.

Compared to his days at 130, definitely. He seems to find a rhythm nowadays...once he "figures" his opponent out, he uses those same shots to neutralize their biggest strength whilst exploiting their biggest weakness. It's upto to Roach and Pacquiao to take advantage of this.

I'd expect that. If they go in concentrating too much on the straight right...after a couple rounds, Mayweather will be feinting and drawing him in.

You are reading too much on the clottey fight.

Pac was luring Clottey to open up. He could have done a "Mayweather" on Clottey because Clottey has a peculiar habit : he almost never throws a punch mid-exchange. He waits for you to stop punching first before he punches.

I could be reading too much into it. But even if Pacquiao was luring him in...which I believe he was at times, he still couldn't avoid the punch.

An opponent would need to create the proper spacing by stepping back on his backfoot, and then counter Pacquiao with a right punch over the top (of Manny's left). This should immediately be followed by aggressive combinations. Morales adds that an opponent should periodically back up against Pacquiao. That enables the opponent to get leverage, and to shock an unsuspecting Manny with the right counter.

Finally, Erik Morales says that Pacquiao's high punch output makes him vulnerable to a straight right punch. It would need to be timed perfectly. The key to maximum effectiveness would be to deliver the blow with sufficient power. Morales thinks the element of surprise is critical against an elite fighter like Manny Pacquiao. When the Filipino moves forward, an opponent can bait him by stepping back and hurling a big right.

    ~ Erik Morales

Clottey doesn't even have perfect timing and excellent footwork, but he still landed.

    When did Morales say this?

"Finally, Erik Morales says that Pacquiao's high punch output makes him vulnerable to a straight right punch. It would need to be timed perfectly"...I don't know why, but this sentence immediately made me think about the De La Hoya Mayweather bout. De La Hoya had Mayweather on the ropes throwing a load of shots (mostly blocked)...and Mayweather lands 1 or 2 right hands that buckle De la Hoya's legs.

Wrong.....hoards of ringside journalist had Marquez winning 8 rounds, some 7.......but very few had the fight at 6 rounds a piece as you say.

The only difference from fight 1 to 2 was that Pacquiao did'nt get left hand happy......but in turn, the pace of the fight and Pacquiao trying to box with a master, presented Marquez more opportunities to land with power.
I thought Marquez shots landed with more authority in the rematch, and it stemmed because Pacquiao wanting to match wits with Marquez, abled Marquez the chance to use both hands to counter Pacquiao.

Pacquiao using his right more, also abled Marquez the openings to use his left over and under Pacquiao's rights.

As improved as Pacquiao has become since the first Marquez fight, that improvement imo is actually a detriment when you're putting it to use against a true boxing master.
.......thus the reason why I'm of the opinion that Mayweather will have a field day vs Pacquiao if they ever meet.
