Like to start by saying i have ultimate respect for both guys and count both as amongst my favorite fighters. However I have consistently backed Floyd in the biggest showdowns as I have yet to find a boxer with the antidote for his skills. The greatest compliment i can pay Pac is that he has made this process somewhat more exacting! So here we go, reasons why I see this as a Floyd victory!.

The Ring General supreme - There are many defintions for this term. In Floyd he embodies my defintiton, which is simply the ability to dictate and reshape a fight. Floyd is rarely forced to fight outside his own tempo, he will smother till he can dictate his won pace. and more impressively when forced out of his Zone (like Judah did to him) he has the unique quality to reshape the fight by finding a B and if necessary a C plan.
The Jab - Ive said it before and i will again. The antidote to the southpaw is an ultra effective, accurate and well timed jab. It unbalances and distabilises the southpaw. Floyd has finally got his jab working again and Floyd senior is the key to this. I expect to see the jab in full flow, and against a Pac who oftens squares up and isn't that difficult to find!!! well you do the Math!
The defence - I'd like to focus on an aspect of his defence that many neglect. We all know it is a supreme defensive technique. However do people realise that it is a psychological burden for the opponent. Whats the betting that camp Pac spend an inordinate amount of time working out how to crack that defnese? Well DLH did so did Ricky. This has the effect of mentallly making the fight one fought on PBF's territory. The opponenet is forever thinking about unlocking that defense sometimes at the expense of making Floyd worry about their own weapons.
Strength and speed - Pac looks phenomenally strong, but like DLH and Ricky, he will be shocked to the core about just how strong PBF is at 147. Pac is super fast, but be under no illusion he will for the first time at this weight meet someone faster than him and able to capitalis on any openeings he leaves.
Lastly, Mentality - Pac is going to come across a self belief that not only matches his but in my opinion surpasses it. Floyd doesn't in my books think he is indestructible, he fears that he isn't! The man is paranoid about having to face his detractors as a loser. Floyd senior's overly harsh criticism of his son as a junior has produced by default a neurotic boxer. Neurotic about not proving he is the best. It works for him because it pushes him to an unbelievable work ethic and a consumption with his technique that I can only trace back to the likes of Willie Pep! Pac is a consumned and ultra dedicated training machine. But Pac is well rounded, with a settled family and other ambitions. Floyd is an addict, who has probably been working on this fight even before Marquez and ever since Marquez.

Floyd will stop Manny after a few interesting moments! Floyd Ko between 5 and 8

I want Pac to win but I see all the advantages in FMJ's favor.

Though I don't think about the whole psychological aspect too often, you make a great point about Floyd's personal hang-up with his father. When you tell a kid he's not good enough for 20 years, he gets neurotic and crazy. Manny is, as you said, satisfied with his life in and out of boxing, Floyd is on a constant mission to prove to the world that he's the best, works the hardest, and earns the most money....

Yeah, and look, even though I appreciate Floyd's greatness, this is why he makes matches so carefully - he doesn't want to win - he wants to be perfect - in every fight in every round. He wants to throw shutouts, like he did against Marquez and Hatton. It's like a sickness.....

Floyd can't avoid Pac's combo punches with his good footworks... And Floyd can't K.O Pac, Pac will K.O Floyd....

disagree with the outcome i see it being a Floyd UD, anyway brilliant post
also would like to add how will manny deal with throwings bursts of punches that constantly missed then countered hard?

I always thought that it was a easy pic (maweather to win)

however i feel it may be closer than i first expected down to the fact/way pac reacted to cottos landed punches ...he answered my question (does he have a decent enough chin at this weight?)

but then again as much as pac was caught in the cotto fight he landed twice as more....

how do you think pac will deal with being made to miss constantly whilst being countered with pot shots ?

watching the marquez fights back and he really did take some time off in both fights and try to work out the marquez puzzle...

as useless as this turned out to be against marquez i feel if he takes time off against floyd he will see round after round slip away against floyd
