he's gone for almost 2 years when he refused to fight cotto and was gone for 16 months when he refused to fight pacquiao.

3 years of vacation and not taking into account that he fights once a year since 2007.

It is amazing... but it's made a hell of a lot easier when you don't fight very often and handpick/cherrypick your way through your career.

By contrast, Roberto Duran won his first world title in 1972 and his last in 1989, that's 17 years. Fair enough he didn't go undefeated, but he had many many more fights than Floyd, and fought an insane level of competition (most of which way above his best weight and after his own prime) including Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Benitez and Cuevas.

:happy Can't argue with this. Chavez fought often, fought the best, and was unbeaten for a very long time indeed.

math is not your strong suit?

Did you include the years he retired too?

Fighting once every 18 months - 2 years should count as 1 year only and if against shitty opposition like ortiz, should get acredit like 3 months only.

even with this hiatus(es) he has a great reign. a true undefeated champ. He will probably end up that way when he retires.

Floyd fights Ortiz who's just won the WBC title in a FOTY candidate.

Pacquaio fights Shane Mosley who's been soundly beaten by Mayweather, and handed a gift draw with Sergio Mora.

:huh Yep, how dare he fight Ortiz.
