I can't see a fight with any other fighter right now that would've given him the money that he was going to make against DLH ... there's also no chance for any other fighter to gain that kinda earning power ... or star power. Maybe there could be some attempts but its impossible for any fighter to do that now. Outside of DLH ... I can't see any comebacks on Floyd's end ... this guy just turned down a career payday and one of the highest purses in boxing history ... I think this guy is done for good. It might be talks of him fighting this guy and that guy - but he's done ...
If Cotto comes out against Margo in good fashionand if the fight is half as good as we expect the whole boxing world will be screaming for Mayweather to fight him, he'd get major money fighting Cotto after that. If he retired after fighting Cotto I wouldnt mind so much but this fight is too good for it not to happen!
if cotto beats margo (which i don't think he will) and clears out the welterweight division by late 09, then mayweather would contemplate a fight with him because cotoo would number 1 p4p. and that fight would get close to the records broken with DLH vs Mayweather because of the return of Floyd.
Mayweather is still young and proud fighter to retire. Whatever reasons he may have on this move whether he is ducking opponents or just findin a bigger purse, I guarantee Floyd will be back. :thumbsup
see this is the thing i don't think cotto will ever be a major star outside of boxing...within the boxing world yeah the guy has made name for himself but he doesnt have a cult following of say a tito trinidad (an icon from PR) or de la hoya he won't ever really be on that level people want excitement inside the ring and also a bit of controversy and personality outside the ring...the average fan just isnt drawn to him...who do you think the average guy is drawn to a guy who talks trash and calls people otu and is controversial or a guy who says i fight anybody talk to my manager...the guy is dull and won't ever be a top drawer SORRY
Barry Sanders - 30 yrs old Jim Brown - 29 yrs old Rocky Marciano - 32 yrs old Sandy Koufax - 31 yrs old Justine Henin - 25yrs old People still think Lennox is coming back ... or that Tyson is some how going to make a come back ... As long as the chatter is still in the air ... the longer FLoyd is going to stay retired and the further he's going to be away from the sport ...
If a there's a demand for him to come back I think thats going to make him stay retired ... if there's no buzz about Floyd ... and someone takes his light away then that would grant a come back ... You know he's not going to stop training ... or stop working out ...
Floyd is DONE. He's a good fighter but he has very fragile hands which are easily susceptible to injury. He won't fight again.
