Some of you have no idea how much more "BETTER TECHNICAL SKILLS" CAN HELP YOU COME FORWARD...EVEN MORE SO THEN A 6'2 MW WITH LONG ARMS... After seeing Martinez Barker on Saturday night, I can say that IF MARTINEZ WERE TO DROP HIS HANDS LIKE THAT (I KNOW IT'S HIS STYLE, YES) WITH FLOYD...FLOYD IS VERY ACCURATE AND WOULD LAND.. SO IF MARTINEZ CHOOSES TO FIGHT THAT WAY..I'D TAKE FLOYD ALL DAY ANY DAY...WAY TOO ACCURATE AND TOO MUCH PRECISION.. FLOYD UD 8-4 OR 9-3 FROM 158 ON DOWN. With all that said, I believe this fight is harder for Floyd than any out there, SHOULD MARTINEZ NOT DROP HIS HANDS.
ya but if u listen to *******s...floyd should fight him at 160...no catch weight if u listen to them justify pac/jmm at 147...they say its all about the walk around weights floyd walks around at 150...sergio around 170...so what exactly would be unfair about a catch for floyd/sergio? nothing....
I doubt this very much...especially if it takes place at 154 and above. As long as both fighters come in strong, if Mayweather takes his usual approach against Southpaws and walks him down, Mayweather's one dimensional aggressive foward approach will lead to him getting hit more clean than we've seen him hit in years. Mayweather's best bet in this fight would be to let Martinez take the lead, but even then with Martinez' quick hands and exceptional power, and very much improved stamina, Mayweather would likely lose a decision. Mayweather isn't big enough for a guy like Martinez. It's not a good fight for Mayweather unless you want to see Mayweather potentially get the **** beat outta him. The best, and most competitive fight is Mayweather vs Pac or at the very least, a rematch with Mayweather against Ortiz. I think Mayweather looked terrible compared to how he usually looks in his last outing, so he has a lot to prove. If he can manage to dominate Ortiz, that would be one of his top wins and most impressive performances. In his last fight, the missed punches, the accumulation of body shots from Ortiz, the abandonment of Floyd's body punching, his high workrate, and the amount of power shots he was throwing whilst doing seemingly negligible damage to Ortiz, means Mayweather was on the road to getting knocked out. That was a bad performance, so a rematch will let us know if Mayweather is still the fighter he claims to be.
And for people who say that Martinez only counterpunches, that's not true. He counterpunched against Barker because Barker was a big middleweight, and if Martinez opted to consistantly throw on Barker's guard, he may have ran out of stamina, which is especially dangerous against a larger opponent who can box. Mayweather is a small guy, and his aggressive approach is relatively one dimensional if you compare him to guys like Bradley, Pac, or from the past Duran, Pryor, Armstrong, etc... Floyd rarely moves his head when he comes foward and against Martinez, he'll find that it's much harder to hit him without getting hit in return. This isn't a small guy or a guy that can't box that Floyd is going up against. In fact, Floyd has never proven in the professional ring that he can defeat a tall, slick fighter, with a great jab. He's undefeated, but you're putting him up against a guy who's a middleweight with handspeed as fast as Floyd's or close enough, and the power to knock out big middleweights with one punch. This is a very dangerous fight. Those of you who are picking Floyd to win easily, should probably reevaluate your stance...
Hendo did you just say Mayweather was on his way to getting KO'd by Ortiz?!? I made the mistake of reading your second post before the first... You serious?!?
