The GOAT wouldn't have had so much trouble with a B+ Castillo. Sorry, top 5, but not the GOAT.

H2H, Duran and the others eat him alive.

Leonard's win over a prime, undefeated Hearns, is still superior to anything Floyd could ever get in a single win. Then look at the rest. It's very difficult for Floyd to be ranked over Leonard even if he gets 5 excellent wins from here on out and retires, because Leonard fought and defeated a superior crop of fighters.

Indeed, if he cleans Welter and then wins the lineal 154, he's earned himself a cemented top 15 spot, nothing more.

Whitaker/Leonard/Duran would still rank over him. They all beat better fighters than this era has to offer.

It is NOW. But 10 years from now, Williams could have won the 147 and 154 title and if PBF beat him, it would be looked at differently. Same with fighting Cotto.

Sure, but Williams isn't and never will be on that level and while Cotto is an excellent fighter, he's going to eventually hit a brick wall also and it'll be in the near future.

Cotto and Williams would have to be stretched to the limit to even accomplish what Trinidad did at 147-154, is Trinidad considered anything near a Thomas Hearns level fighter?:yep

Sometimes you just know what a guy is made of before they hit their respective best, Williams being one of them, he's not that great.

So tell me, why doesn't Cotto fight Williams or Cintron?

Most people don't subscribe to that though and you know that. You put more emphasis on H2H than most in ATG lists. It can't be proven. And if Cotto and Williams became hugely accomplished, and PBF beat them, it would make him HUGE. SRL wasn't considered as great as he was DURING his run, neither was Hearns.

A Floyd fan's best argument, bring Cotto into it.

    Haha, too predictable.

why would floyd listen to a broke writer. the guy is a hater and is blind as well.

floyd is already top 5 and I would argue top 3 GOAT.

    I agree.

It's far from impossible for a modern great to be favourabley compared to the greats of old, although it would need extraordinary achievment, obviously.

Williams is still unproven at this point, very talented though. Floyd don't need Cintron. Cotto is the man for floyd to fight. Hopefully this fight will happen this year like I predicted in 07 :good

Floyd beats Duran and Leonard. He loses to Hagler and Hearns simply because of their physical attributes. But barely.

Noone eats Floyd alive. Silly to think anyone in history in his present weight class could eat him alive. Are you insane? Have you watched him fight?

great post as usual. hagler and hearns would be floyd's toughest fights not because of skill level but size. duran and leonard would be beaten by floyd if they fought. floyd's level of skill is beyond anything I have ever seen as a fight fan.

most people don't want to admit this. A+ defense with an A+ offense = undefeated in 5 weight classes with 5 wbc championships.
