Took 5 years to get Floyd in the ring, bruh. And that wasn't a fight that could be rescheduled given the magnitude.
Honestly all i can remember from that fight is Floyd's Papi saying. " You're fighting scared". That's all i can remember because it was snoozefest typical floyd fight. You own father saying that. WOW! Unbelievable.
Agreed, though the circumstances were different then & had he pulled out he probably wouldn't be able to get him back in the ring again, after all the avoiding for almost 6 years really made it feel he couldn't, in hindsight he should have postponed it to another date, by that time the match was announced it wasn't even really intriguing speaking for myself, By the way just because Floyd officially got one decision over Manny that can't be the end all be all can it??? I mean he even got caught cheating and even if you don't want to acknowledge Manny's shoulder being compromised i would think the Boxing public would have wanted more out of both of them, Just imagine if Roy never gave Tarver a rematch guys like you would empathically say that Tarver wouldn't be able to beat let alone Knockout Roy, It's like Morales after beating Pac, imagine him never granting Pac a rematch either, no one here would fathom the outcome of Manny ending up beating Morales twice and both times by KO, It would have been inconceivable for most Boxing minds, More examples: Leonard vs Hearns 1-3, that's why you gotta give it to the PacMan again in the sense that he never denied anyone a rematch regardless the result prior even granting his opponent's more than 1 rematch to figure him out and defeat him, he loved every challenge unlike Floyd who deep down knew that his opponent's possibly could figure out a thing or two & thus the next bout likely having a different outcome altogether.
Resumes make fighters great, not being undefeated or winning titles in a number of divisions. Marciano was undefeated and Ali had multiple losses, but Ali is considered greater because of his resume. Anyone can go undefeated by beating a bunch of bums. Anyone can win titles in a bunch of weight divisions by beating paper champions. If you took away away Floyd's undefeated record or Pacquiao's 8 division conquest, they would STILL be great fighters because of their resumes.
Mayweather beat more Champions and made it look easy with real boxing skill. Pac is 8 division champ in an era where there are more belts than divisions by the looks of it. Pac is still an ATG though
