having never seen them fight I can't dispute what you're saying, but for me I like to focus on fighters in the modern era where I can see their accomplishments. Not knocking the old-timers but footage is very scarce so many times you get word of mouth, and I don't rate fighters on word of mouth.

So you rate them on what you see? I asked earlier is this based on resume, video footage, or what? What is the criteria you are using for rating the fighters? It has to be consistant or else the list is invalid.

You make an excellent point. However, you can't argue that Floyd is an All time great at any weight class without including fighters from All time periods.

I am watching benny leonard right now. He is not better then floyd. He is a very good boxer that ironically pot shots and keeps on his toes. In and out like floyd. These old timer huggers need to get a grip. I agree that the old time fighters of the past were better technically but everything else goes to the current. Unless you guys posting are in your 90s or 100s I dont think you can say these fighters would beat the ones of today. Having not been there to see it live. From what I see on tv I see a lot of skill and a lof of mistakes that you cannot get away with. Any real good boxer back then looks great in the ring against b level guys. That is the same now. That being said, I do think there were more talented fighters back then. Todays crop are a lazy bunch looking too much for the knockout punch rather then perfecting the basics. The reason I rate floyd as a throwback fighter is b/c he is that opposite. He perfects the basics then adds the extra

You rank Sal Sanchez third in a division he wasn't champ in. For ****s sake, you moron, you're too delusional to see what a **** you actually are.

I can't wait to see where you rank Evander Holyfield at super middleweight :good

This is why I don't like to compare athletes from different eras(in any sport). The sport will continue to evolve and as a result you end up comparing apples to oranges.

Whoa, I never said inferior. But not that you put it that way, it makes sense . Being that the gloves now a days are a lot bigger. But the impact of gloves now a days causes a lot more damage as far as concussions etc etc. I know they old gloves could break more ribs and do more body damage. I mean being punched in the face with a fist a guy got to hit you with a perfect shot to put you out. But with those gloves...I mean that **** literally knocks your brain silly. I mean you feel your brain shaking around up there. lol Makes sense. Benny did have good foot work and balance. **** imagine cotto with those little gloves hitting to the body. OUCH. my ribs.

I could see ali and ray robinson float around the ring in black in white. They had better then good footwork. They had unbelievable footwork. Espcially ali being a 210 plus pound guy dancing around like that.

Yall need to let up on my boy bigtime. I mean the gang lynches on ESB is fierce. You make one error and guys jump at you like you dont know ****. I mean of course if you didnt study boxings history you would not be able to make a good GOAT list. I mean, none of us or 100 years old to be there. The footage is minimal and what you do see, the only fighter that really amazed you was ray robinson b/c he fought more like guys now a days.

Rocky Marciano was the cheatingest (not a word but who cares ass fighter) That I have ever seen in the ring. The guy threw punches that if he missed he would intentionally crack you with a monster elbow. IN COMBINATIONS.

He's one of the few guys who could play in today's NBA, but he was also 7 feet 300 lbs. Elgin Baylor tore **** up during his era, but I don't think he could dominate today's athletes. And even if boxing doesn't continue to evolve, it will continue to change.
