I actually don't rank Oscar as an ATG even though I just typed that up. I rank him below Calzaghe and I don't rank Calzaghe as an ATG, either. To me, my ATG list is 50 deep. That is all. Others only consider their top 20 as ATG's, others consider there to be a few hundred ATG's out there. It all is relative. Either way, Oscar > Toney. Sooooo, cool.
I always take into account how they lost, Oscar deserved Mosley 2, he deserved Trinidad, yeah he gave last quarter away, he pushed Mayweather damn close though it was at 154, he fought Hopkins and was competitive until the liver shot... he didn't exactly flunk them all. Look at Duran, you could say he lost the majority of his big fights too, yet he was competitive except for Hearns, I know him fighting way above his natural weight is a massive reason which you can't say for DLH but the point stands.
Ok. Still around after starting his career in '88. Won titles at MW, SMW, CW, HW. Beat two names in McCallum, Nunn and Holyfield who ARE MUCH BETTER THAN ANY names on Floyd's record. Hasn't been stopped in 90 fights in a career spanning 27 years and four weight classes. Also one of the best defensive fighters EVER. Top 3, easy. That isn't an ATG? You, my friend, know nothing about this game. How old was you in 1988?
Yes. Toney started his career FOUR YEARS BEFORE Oscar did, is still going SEVEN YEARS AFTER he retired and won more meaningful fights than he did.
:good He's not even a Duran, JCC or even an ODLH... These guys fought everyone and anyone. No ducking, no retiring, no excuses. :deal
Honestly, all I can do is chuckle. Off to go longboarding. Have a great day on the keyboard. As the Emperor once said, "Yes, good. Let the hate flow through you..."
But he has fought everyone the fans asked for except Golovkin, it's a known fact he wants the biggest payday so watches who the fans are building up the highest.
Translation: Man, I got owned... First it was Oscar is an ATG and Toney isn't. Then it's "I just typed that up". Now it's some random quote regarding an emperor. Talk about being clueless. Show me this ATG list that contains fighters from only the last 25 years please. I need to laugh even harder (if that's possible.)
Ah. Hittin' me with the "go to bed, kid" line. I told you that I've been dealing with fools like you for years. It really is a case of rinse and repeat. We have two differing opinions. That's fine. But for some reason I get a feeling that I've managed to get you mad. It's OK. It's just a boxing forum. It's just one persons' opinion. Sleep does tend to ease those emotions away, so perhaps heed your own advice.
