Guillermo Jones has a great chin. A great chin is taking a beating for several rounds like jones did and keep coming back for more until the other guy just gives up when he realizes he can't knock the guy out with a bat. Floyd has an OK chin but GREAT or PERFECT defense.

Floyd chin is made of iron he got rocked twice by Shane in 15 seconds (those were knockout punches) and went on to win the rest of the fight

people do know that Chop is a Southpaw dont they? Alot of people get hurt by Southpaws because its either a blind punch that you dont see coming or you see it coming, have a perfect defense, and it still hits you flush.

Thats why people struggle so much against Southpaws. Even Southpaws themselves stuggle against other Southpaws. Chop caught Floyd the same time Floyd was throwing. Most guys get KTFO by those type of shots. Ask Kahn & Peterson about that

its playing it incredibly safe for a 130lb fighter moving through the weights,who is about to fight an undefeated guy who walked in just shy of being a LHW in his last fight

Seems below average.
He has been knoccked down by a total no-hoper, and rocked several times.
And his obsessively defensive style, even against sand sacks like Guerrero, tends to confirm this thing.
He has a really low k.o. percentage, expecially considering he has good power and a lot of his opponents are there just to be hit.

 

Clearly pretty weak, but it's irrelevant because his defense & ring IQ compensates. He'd have been Mosley's first early KO victim in years were it not for that. He doesn't have a great chin, but he makes it a complete non-issue.

 

What would you rather have a great chin or great defense? Floyd doesn't need a great chin. Even though Alvarez will be close to 170 on fight night, Floyd's defense will negate any power alvarez MIGHT have.

 

Floyds chin is AVERAGE .

Shane proved that to the world when he touched him just "1" time and he could not withstand it and immediatley had to hold on .

It gets you thinking right ? what would have happened if these 2 fought back at lightweight where Shane was a knockout artist and was flooring everyone .

 

Great defense = somewhat of a (truly) untested chin . . .
