think about what you're saying he's throwing a punch all the way back with the rear hand. He can throw it fast, but it still requires more commitment, exposure, and is slower than a jab.

Miguel Cotto had about the same arm length as manny. Miguel had a bad stance and sucked at fighting tall. He would lead with his head over his knee. Mayweather has quite a few inches of arm length over manny and will force him to reach even more due to how good he is at boxing tall.

After landing, Zab would protect himself. Would stay in balance. Zab had sparred Floyd many times before so I'm positive he knew what he was doing.

You allow Pac to use angles if you don't make him chase you and come at you linearly. The last person to successfully use a jab on Pac was EM like 10 years ago and that was by boxing. Pac's movements negates all these bigger guy's jabs. Why do you think Manila Ice (right hook) is so effective at these weights. You jab you miss you leave yourself open. The essential point here is you gotta move to take away Pac's strengths. Floyd's more of a leaner nowadays. He's fighting into Pac's strengths.

And you need to stop comparing Ortiz to Pac. They're soutpaws yeah but thats it. He doesn't move like Pac. He doesn't have the bounce, the lateral quickness, the rhythm, the technique nor the timing. When Pac throws that lead left, Pac leans forward and baits you in and literally shoots it followed by a synchronized exit. Stop thinking that Pac throws punches blindly without any method. He's an "offensive" technician with a bigger arsenal than Floyd could ever hope for. It's not tactically sound if you make it easier for him to use it. So I really do hope Floyd stays in the pocket, it's gonna make for a more entertaining fight. I'm not sure the shoulder roll will hold up though and in all likelihood he'll cover up in the traditional high guard. And lol, those Zab gifs clearly illustrates how open Floyd's shoulder roll is for a speedy southpaw.

This thread is kinda pointless since Pacquiao - by way of his promoter - is ducking Floyd like the plague. Ok so Floyd gets caught every once in while. He gets caught with straight lefts, as well as straight rights, but we all know what happens after that. He doesn't go anywhere and he makes sure his opponent pays dearly... It seems that everyone knows that turning Manny is one way to nullify that straight right hand. His invincibilty has gone out of the window a while back.

 

WTF I'm getting tagteamed by the bballs. There's plenty examples of that punch. He lands it in every fight against everyone who has a reach advantage. It's more of a surprise punch, whether it's slower than some people's jab is debatable. What matters is that it catches people by surprise and is the kind of punch that would be effective against the shoulder roll coz its hard to see coming and its straight and would cut through a hook everytime.

 

If this is the best Pacquiao got, then no wonder he's ducking.
