It was a terrible fight as JMM was already overttrained for the July fight.

    I didn't buy the ppb

The weight limit for this fight was 147 pounds.

While originally signed on for 144 pounds, Marquez signed a contract raising the weight limit to 147.

Golovkin's fight with Rosado was at a 158 pound catchweight originally. But both signed deals to raise the limit to 160 pounds. So, would you still say that Golovkin cheated the scales weighing in above 158 pounds? Of course not.

You may not like that, but saying Floyd came in overweight is just spreading a factually false statement.

The problem is that they used the catchweight as a selling point for the fight's credibility on 24/7, Floyd lied about making the weight on 24/7, and then came in at the last second at the weight he wanted to make which was clearly his plan all along. He didn't try and fail to make the weight on the official scale. So not only did he lie to the fans, he gave Marquez(who was already at a tremendous disadvantage at the higher weight anyway) no chance to train for that added weight.

it does, but only to the casual observer, i.e you. To anyone that knows boxing this win simply says : bigger defensive counter puncher easily beat a smaller offensive one, after dragging him up two weight classes and cheating him on the scales.

The day the fight was signed, all who knew boxing yawned, for Marquez is tailor made for Floyd and will lose to him 10 times out of 10. I predicted a 12 round shutout for excuses, and that's exactly what I bet on.

I wish he would've faced the marqez on gear, but he still would've won... But it wouldn't have been the complete mismatch it was. You know it's 2015 when we all are somewhat accepting and even encouraging the anabolicly enhanced version of an or near Atg just to get a better fight.

Floyd bought 3 extra pounds for $200 000 a pound a day before the fight. He cheated Dinamita because Marquez essentially had no choice, not being important enough to pull out of the fight. This type of justification should be beneath you, leave pathetic excuses to the masters of such craft.

The weight was weak, no doubt. The size difference was obvious, no doubt. Buying the extra pounds isn't cool, I wish it had been at 144 I guess, etc. I agree with all that and have never said I don't.

It was only for those who repeatedly say Floyd somehow failed to make weight when he didn't. If Marquez didn't sign the contract, then he would have. But he did. So... whose fault is that? It's like Pascal or Edwin or Pulev complaining about Hopkins, Ward, and Wladimir, respectively, not submitting to higher drug testing procedures when they had already signed a contract for the fight and agreed to whatever procedures were in the contract.

It is what it is... But it isn't what some people like to non-stop spew over and over in an attempt to push their sensitive feelings.

this is the kind of justification joyboys say to defend floyd's cheating? did you even know floyd changed the contract a day before? :patsch

jmm basically trained for a 144 catchweight fight not knowing that floyd will pull. and this is after pulling him 2 divisions up.

How was it "cheating" when legal contracts before the weigh in were signed allowing 147 pound limit?

Was it "weak and lame?" Absolutely. Was it "cheating the scales?" Absolutely not.

The only reason I posted that was to hopefully get people like you to choose your vocab selection better but apparently that effort is futile.

The victory would not have been nearly as significant in the eyes of many had Marquez not gone on to (in the opinions of the majority) defeat elite WW Pacquiao twice at that very weight just a couple years later. So while this thread is a massive trolling-blowfest, the general sentiment is accurate to all that care to ever be consistent in how they view respecting certain performances in boxing.

Umm, he didn't make the contracted catch weight of 144..they changed the contract at the weigh in to 147 to accommodate Floyd.

Besides the fight was pushed back from a phantom injury to Floyd and because Floyd wouldn't have had to fight Pacquiao in December..

My entire and only point was that the contract was changed.

    Thank you for understanding that...
