Floyd would not even fight Williams at 154 let alone at 160lbs ****, Floyd would never fight Paul Williams period Floyd will fight Marquez, then after that it will be the easiest route to making money for him. I would not be surprised if he tried to get Oscar out of retirement for another easy payday. If that happens that fight should be boycotted.
the only fighter that floyd would fight at 160 is kelly pavlik, he is waiting to be given another boxing lesson. he knocked out miranda and taylor in great fashion but them fighters were waiting to be hit, they had no movement and went back and forwards in stright lines. floyd would just box rings around him.
Good chance phloyd is not going to fight Pac because he won't be happy with the money split from Arum, which could pave the way for a garbage fight vs. Spinks. Haymon seems to have HBO by the you know whats for some inexplicable reason and they'll pay for it. Judah may even be dug up again. Expect the same ol ducking and dodging from phloyd who won't all the sudden dare to fight Cotto, Williams, Margarito or Mosley. he is the premier handpicker most protected fighter in modern history. and retirement is no where near. he will continue to handpick as long as possible, but bttom line is don't get too excited for Pac-phloyd. phloyd can't be too keen on it after seeing how devastating Pac has looked lately. And the Arum/money split angle is his convenient escape hatch to safer handpicks.
All these haters saying that," Floyd won't go up to 154 or 160!" Floyd defeated the Big Show! That's like 500lbs. Money Mayweather says, "if it makes dollars, it makes sense".
Not typical of a cherrypicker Floyd to do this. Are you trying to imply that he is fighting Marquez but is ducking the #1 P4P Pacquiao who is the biggest draw and moneymaker in boxing today? May is not called Money for nothing, is he? It's just too late for him to repair his tattered image.
he'll go up t0 160 - if the setter uppers can set up a prime handpick like billy lyell or john duddy as a 160 beltholder. but anyone who thinks phloyd would go up to 160 to take on someone like Abraman or Williams or even Pavlik probably is brain damaged.
Pac has titles in 6 weights Oscar if you count WBO Who would PW get the title from at 160? Abraham or Pavlik? those are good fights but I don't see them happening any time soon
You dont have a clue...Pac isnt the draw that you and many of the other pac fans think him to be..His numbers vs the same fighters are lower, which says that Pac isnt the draw that Floyd is. Floyd isnt ducking pac in fact the early signs are the other way around..Roach making his comments about a boring fight..Arum stating that Floyd would have to take 35% is all leading to the fact that Pac, Arum and roach dont want that fight.
Floyd said that he's willing to fight all the fighters that called him out ... its a shame that Margarito didn't beat Shane because that wouldve been a great fight. I agree with the guy who started this thread ... it makes sense ... Williams isn't a very big guy ... despite being a natural middleweight _ he was able to go middleweight ... and he's not all that strong at 160 ... I can see Williams getting a title at 160 ... I would like to see it go like this ... vs JMM vs Pac vs the top welterweight at 154 vs Corey Spinks vs Williams he can do it and don't be surprised if he does it ... this guy said it before that he's going after history more than any title. he can fight for the WBC at any weight class being the champion emeritus ... he has a mandatory shot at any weight class -whenever he feels. he will fight the best welters ... and right now the best ones out there consist of Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto ...and he can fight either one of those guys at 154 ...
Williams can beat those guys ... it wouldn't be a complete miss match against them. or he can fight Felix Sturm ... they'll offer those guys a **** ton of money just to see if Williams can do it.
Marquez at 143 Pacquiao at 143 Mosley at 147 Cotto at 147 Williams at 147 How many of those would Floyd win? I think he takes Marquez and outboxes Williams. I also would fancy him to beat Pacquiao. Cotto...I'm not so sure and the Mosley that destroyed Margarito...I'm not sure at all!!!
You guys are forgetting that one thing that Floyd has shown over the years is that if it makes dollars it makes sense ... so if Williams built up his name more and they built up a mega fight between the two that **** is very possible. If you offered that man 20-30 a fight - he'll fight anyone ... he's as prideful as any fighter ... I never thought about it like that but alot of these guys would fight just about anyone for the right amount.
You're so naive about boxing promotions. Arum's float of 35% or 40% is just a ploy to get a better leverage for himself and his fighter. Arum is a astute businessman. His actions are three to four steps ahead. Btw, Floyd is not the draw. His crowd drawing opponents were. This is off-tangent but why did Nike choose Pac as the face of boxing in their advertisements in all media if Floyd is the bigger draw? Come to think of it. Is there something they know that you guys don't know or refuse to know. Pac has even increased his stock w/ his recent victories against legends dela Hoya and Hatton. Tell me who would boxing fans rather watch? Boring Floyd or exciting Pac? Make a survey in ESB but I am sure marketing people in Nike have already done their survey and it poins to Pacquiao, the face of boxing, as the crowd drawer.
