While thats very true, if it was only for the tax breaks then all he would need to do is sign checks.

There would be no need for the dude to be out in the street handing out lunches to homeless, or turkeys on thanks giving. You can also look at what he donates to and see that he targets specific things like schools, youth programs, boxing programs etc..

If people want to go out of there way to attack a person's character then they need to judge him as a whole.

Based on what you're writing should I view Tyson differently for the ****/assaults/abusive nature because he's done a load of charity work?

    No.

We can't judge someone on charity contributions while they're still active because it could be:

    A) The person is being coerced by management/promoters to help image, a PR stunt.
    B) Tax breaks.

Only when a fighter retires should we judge. Lets see how much charity work PBF does when he no longer boxes, only then will we know his 'kinder' side.

  4. He is doing it to get some gullable ass mu****as to by ppv and tickets to his fights. If he was really genuine, he wouldn't have cameras there. If you gonna give, give silently and without making a spectacle of it.

Exactly nobody here knows him. Why do you care? if you really care why would you be upset if your not 1st on his priority list? why do you care if your not even a fan? its plain silly to expect people to be so selfish in actually thinking there will be another ALI glorify him and set him high he put The Nation 1st and the Fans on the same Level they both wants him to keep fighting and Look what happens , look at what the Greatest of All Times is. Who wants to be the greatest of all times if that is the outcome you blame him? Would you be willing to be the Greatest of All Times?
I can only Breath out 1 nostril and that and suffer from constant Migrains and I only had 30 sum fights AMATURE! you guys wont be there for him when he is shaking uncontrallably so chill out

what does that mean, he supposed to order the 24/7 cameras away when he does some charity work? i dont recall ever seeing a press release or anything of the sort from floyd or his people about his charitable works

um the cameras were there for 24/7 show. When the cameras arent there you dont know that he is doing charity so guess what, if its done silently, you will never know about it. This will then cause some people to say floyd doesnt do charity so once again it will be a no win situation.

And a few months ago he did a charity event in dallas WITHOUT any media being there ( and i know this for a fact) so he does do things without a spectacle....

So he gives silently, and no one ever knows about it, so people assume he's a **** for having so much money and not helping others. Or he gives, and a newspaper article is written, and people find out, and he's a **** for being showy in his giving. Sounds like a lose lose to me.

He's a public personality, this stuff gets reported on. He doesn't issue press releases, it's reported on in public newspapers because it's relevant to the community.

And you've got to be ****ing shitting me about only giving to charity for tax breaks. You can't somehow MAKE money by giving to charity. Charitable contributions certainly lower your taxable income, but that's because they lower your income PERIOD. If he kept that money he might pay 50% or even 70% of it in taxes, but he would keep the remaining 30%. If he gives it away he keeps none of it.

Likewise, when has Floyd ever seemed particularly concerned about cultivating a positive public image? You think he'd say **** like "I'm not there to make my fans happy, I'm there to make myself happy" but then give to charity just to make sure people like him?

He doesn't care about you. You hear that? Doesn't give a **** about you. And you are here defending his attitude like he's your BFF. It's one thing to admire a man's boxing skills but it's another to admire him for being a tool you nuthuggers. FFS wake up.

But we are not talking about Mike Tyson, we are talking about Mayweather.

Mayweather isn't a ******, drug dealer, serial killer, pedafile etc.. He is a boxer with an ego to big for his own good, who talks a lot of trash, splashes money in clubs, has a big entourage. He isn't bad enough to be as criticized for his character as much as he does. While he does a lot of charity work, a lot of that gets canceled out by some of his actions. At the end of the day it evens out, making him a normal human being, with some stong qualities and some shortcomings.

    Agree.

Saying you don't care about the fans is a slap in the face. The reason why he makes so much money in the first place is because the fans pay to see him fight.

I don't think he gets that.

Or maybe he does, and its all an act to make people pay to see him lose. You never know with Floyd.

At the same time making a spectacle of it could also inspire others to do the same. Besides no matter what its going to be a spectacle because of his name.

You could be 100 percent right and he could only be doing it to get people to buy PPVs. But neither of us know his true intentions. What we do know is that those homeless people were fed that day.

Your mis reading his quote. He said he doesn't live for the fans. There's a huge difference in saying you don't care about your fans and you don't live for them.

Mayweather isn't the president, he isn't a public servant. He is just a talented boxer.

Mayweather fans don't live for Mayweather. They pay to be entertained by his fights and talent, thats the trade off. If Mayweather stops being entertaining and talented then fans will stop paying. Fans don't pay money to live for Mayweather.

And when I say Mayweather I really mean all the top boxers out there. When people start feeling they are owed more then just an entertaining fight then there is a problem.

    That's a real ass statement.

Cotto has also said, something among similar lines that. That he doesn't mind if fans watch his fights, but he fights for himself and his family.

    And he's right.

Where the hell were Joe Louis's fans when he was old and broke and worked as a bellhop for a Casino?
