It's hardly suffered. He just dominated shane mosley who was seen as the number 1 WW in the division in boxing experts and fans eyes.

If the guy wants a break then good luck to him.

If mayweather doesn't fight pac next year then i think he will not be able to surpass manny after both men finally retire. Unless of course he goes on to beat Martinez and Williams.

Those two lopsided victories can't really take anything away from it. Sorry.

He ducked the guy seen as #1 and dominated the 38 year old #2, who happened to be inactive for the previous 14 months.

Mosley's age had nothing to do with him still being considered the best WW at the time.

But WW rankings have a lot to do with him not being ranked #1 at the time.

nah although its a huge disappointment in not fighting Pac....his career isnt over and Pac's isnt either....so for now its disapointment but i think next year they get it over with.

As far as mess up his legacy this year...nah...he fought the fighter EVERYONE wanted him to fight....who was considered the #1 WW. People forget how much shyt they gave Floyd right fter the JMM fight when Mosley jumped in the ring...everyone was aww floyd is this floyd is that...when he finally dominates him..then Mosley's age is the reason but Mosley was the guy only a year off who they thought would beat Floyd,KO Floyd, make him dig down(he did in the second). People with agendas degrade that victory most fair minded observers give the man credit as will history when its all said and done.

It doesn't matter where he was officially ranked.

What matters is the real fans and the boxing experts who can see through the politics of the sport.

Shane mosley was rightfully considered the number 1 WW, the man at the division by the fans.

Yeah because when Ali was reinstated Frazier said oh I think I'll take some time off. When Hearns looked like an unstoppable beast, SRL said hey I'll take some time off...

I'm a fan and I didn't, as did many if not most other fans.
When a guys inactive for so long and a guy comes along who beat the man who beat the man it changes things.

And if it doesn't matter I guess we should just throw official rankings out the window huh?
