I'll be honest. I've never been a big "supporter" of Floyd Mayweather. You can check some of my posts if you think otherwise. He hand picks opponents, rarely fights, and when he does is safety first, is a hypocrite, and has basically talked himself into multimillion PPV status. This most recent video brouhaha has definitely caused a stir. I just have a few questions. For a man that has been referred to as "brilliant", "genius", and other nonsensical hyperbole, this latest "strategic" move seems rather counter intuitive. I mean what potential positive outcome could he have hoped for? Was he employing the "any attention is good attention" strategy, or was he fresh out of ideas for creating controversy? What else could Floyd do besides outright fight Pacquiao to generate this kind of publicity? Still, I wonder whats the point.

This fight was huge already. I mean how can you drum something up to be bigger than... the biggest thing out there, basically. I remember at one time people in other sports were talking about this match-up. Random golf commentary would break out into a Mayweather-Pac discussion, if for only a few seconds. Once again I wonder whats the point.

Anyways, I did have a point but I lost it because I'm trying to figure out what the hell Floyd was thinking. He turned this thing into something ugly. The media is acting like Mayweather pee'd on a picture of Jesus while burning the US flag. I in no way, shape, or form condone what Mayweather said in his video. It was a stupid and a horrid miscalculation on his part. But let's be honest. I hear and see racist **** all day. Whether it's in conversation with associates, media, internet boards and blogs, music, racism is literally embedded in our society. At least from my perspective.

My reaction to the Mayweather video at first was like "Woooowwww. This guy is trippin." I laughed a bit, but then I kind of felt sorry for him. Just looking at him, how his actions seemed forced, made his cry for attention appear desperate. But did I feel "disgusted?" Not in the least. I'm curious to see the ultimate fall out from this...

Thoughts? If you "disgusted" by the rants, please post elsewhere... thanks!

Hope my ramble made some sense... I'm on pain pills for surgery!

  5. The **** he said in the video was pretty damn ******ed. ESPN has it on their front page now with a video and whatnot so its getting some attention. But all this is just gonna make the fight bigger when it comes. He's trying even harder to get under Pacquiao's skin by crossing the "racist" line.

When they finally fight, whatever the outcome of the fight... the two will congratulate eachother on a great fight and they'll both tell us on PPV that there was never any ill-will and that anything said before the fight was just to build the hype.

    Boxing promotion is extremely predictable.

    well put :good

It's great promotion... Floyd makes himself so hated that nobody can resist tuning into the fight in the hope of seeing him get knocked out.

It's nothing new. Ali learned that play from Gorgeous George back in the 50's.

He just backed himself into a corner. I keep having a feeling that he might eventually get the Roy Jones karma down the line...

Floyds motive is to avoid Pac at all cost. Peopel are dumb enough to think this is a promotion for their fight in 2015.WTF??

Why would you not fight for some 40M and let that pass because Margo can beat Pac, Pac can get shot in Manila..Alot can hapen from now til next year.

This is like saying, I can win the lottery tomorrow but id rather take the chance of winning it next year for 5 million more. What???

Floyds motives are what they are, say and do anything to get your ass out of the fight, and that is exactly what he is doing...

Fans didn't forget that your boy was scared of needles and getting tatted up lol. I told you that once he saw his last pay check, and Floyd's pay check, he told Arum to make the fight only Arum and Greenburg were the only ones in the room lol...

Or he is waiting for Pac to get beat up a little more before fighting him to give his well rested self more of an edge. Consistently fighting bigger stronger top level guys doesn't bode well for a fighter's health, no matter how great Pac is. Mayweather did the same thing when welterweight was the hottest division in boxing, letting top guys Cotto, Margo and Mosley beat the **** out of each other. And it worked as he now gets a pass for avoiding Cotto and Margo as they got beat up when he was retired.

Same exact thing. Not only is he waiting for Pac to get more milage but 1 year gives him more wiggle room. ****, lots can happen in a year. Pac can be tied up in politics and not be able to train, then Floyd will call him out as ducking. This is why this move by Floyd will be remembered moreso than Durans "No Mas"
