So why are "some" people acting like this was the first time he showed what he was made of ? People brought this up when he was clocked by Shane. Did people forget that fight already as well ? I'll give him credit because Cotto was tougher and bigger, and Floyd is past his best at this stage which makes it harder but damn...people have short memories or don't bother to watch his career. Here, he was caught with a punch he didn't see while throwing his own punch. That's when it hurts you the most. And not only does Floyd stay calm, but..... To me, this was nothing new for Floyd. People were commending Floyd's toughness as if it were a rarity, but I'm more keen to praise Cotto's relentlessness since we haven't seen that kind of performance in years, if really ever from him. Floyd's had a handful of really tough inside fights. It just hasn't happened in a while.
Most of the people saying that did not follow Floyd before Oscar...they don't realize that Floyd had 37 fights before he fought Oscar....They don't know about Floyd at 130...some fans do but MOST casual fans don't.
Cotto was more competitive then jesus chavez.. Chavez was relentless but he was outclassed. Floyd never outclassed or dominated Cotto.
I don't think people are acting like it's the first time he has fought this way at all. I think at times, because some of the more uneducated amongst us call him a runner, he is then lauded with praise when he stands with someone like Cotto.
