Instead of Floyd getting so much hate because of his tremendous boxing ability, doesn't his opponents deserve as much criticism for not being able to get the job done. I mean, they know what there're facing once they get in the ring. Im not mad at Floyd for making A and B fighters look more like F fighters, thats pretty much his job. Its the opponents job to do otherwise.
most of floyd's opponents were chosen for a reason....they pose none to very little risk. floyd didn't really have to think "what if i lose?" when these guys were selected.
There is a whole slew of fights that are essentially wastes in the grand scheme from Sosa to Rios to Bruseles. That is fair criticism. But then there is a whole slew of future HOF'ers, lineal champs, P4P listed, top 10 ranked fighters on his resume too. Few of them were at particularly sour moments of their career, too. I think most of the guys he fights try their ass off. You can't tell me that Cotto, Baldomir, Corley, Chavez, Manfredy, Castillo, Hatton, and Guerrero didn't train as hard as they had before with every intent of winning and giving that shot everything.
Floyd has missed: Freitas at 130 when he was undesfeated Casamayor at 130 when he was undefeated Tszyu at 140, instead he fought 2 eliminators for Gatti's WBC title at 140 against Corley and Brusseles when he was already was a champion at 135 moving up. Margarito at 147 after Margarito had beat Cotto Williams at 147 No blame for not fighting Cotto or Moseley earlier as both camps refused the fight.
