I think Floyd's win over Canelo will look very good in the next few years. Canelo is only 23-24, and has plenty of time to grow as a fighter. Hell, he already showed great improvement in his fight against Trout. I know I've criticized Canelo's resume before, but he's fighting Lara next, and if he beats him, he'll most likely move up to MW. If he wins a belt there, that means Floyd beat a guy who became a two division champion at the age of 24-25. I honestly think Canelo will go down as one of Floyd's top 5 wins.
I criticized Canelo a lot in the past, if he beats Lara, which I'm hoping he does, he'll be the man at 154.
I was very impressed with Floyd's win over Canelo. But I rate Canelo higher than most people around here.
Going to be interesting to see how Canelo deals with Lara style . He does not have the stamina to slowly break him down like Angulo was doing . So this will be interesting . For some reason I see a knockout in this fight . Both guys are going to be throwing everything with the intent to put one another to sleep . There is bad blood between these 2 .
No. It was a great win, but you are overrating it. Canelo was still young and drained. And what Canelo will go on to do will not change anything about that fight.
Drained by a good 1 pound. I guess Cotto vs Pacquiao was also a very tainted win. Cotto was coming off a recent horrific beating, and weight drained... If Canelo goes on to do great things, it adds to Floyd's resume.
Really good win, alot on here will say "not that impressive" but its only because Floyd made it look easy. Im sure Canelo would be hell on pac.
Pacquiao-Cotto has nothing to do with this fight. This is not a Floyd-Manny debate. You're grasping at straws. Draining is draining, and lessens a victory. And being young is also a factor. People credit Sal Sanchez with beating Azumah Nelson, which was a great win. But they always point out that Nelson was green. It's similar here. A great win. But it would be nice if you gave a rest to your habitual trolling once in a while. Like I said, I rate Canelo higher than most people around here, and it was a great win, but this was not "one of the best wins in history".
I said it has the potential to be. Not saying it is yet. :hi: Learn to read.... If Canelo goes on to do great things and his only loss is Floyd, definitely it could be one of the greatest wins. You're just a biased Floyd hater. Like I asked, if Cotto vs Pacquiao a tainted win or not? Completely damaged.....Drained...
I think the missing variable in this is that Floyd had to COME UP after weighing 146 against Guerrero. Floyd had to come up 6 pounds and Canelo had to lose one extra from his previous weigh in
Canelo has potential and has improved at a good rate throughout his career but I don't think what he goes on to achieve should have any impact on how good Floyd's victory over him should look. It's about how good someone was at the time you fought them. How much credit do Singsurat and Torrecampo get for their wins over Pacquiao? Another factor is we don't know how weight drained Canelo may or may not have been.
Pretty similar to Duran/Leonard 1 B4 Duran beat him, the only notable victory Leonard had was Benitez...and to a degree FMSR. The win didn't become one of the greatest of all time until Leonard started beating his other atg contemporaries. Duran..Hearns...Hagler...Kalule to a degree It's entirely possible for Canelo to go on and do amazing things. This could be one of those wins for Floyd. Sure Duran moved up 2 weight classes and that was amazing in itself but Floyd was also the much smaller man.
