Charles Martin winning the IBF title when vyacheslav Glazkow injured his leg in the third round and couldn't continue. Charles Martin would never have won a heavyweight championship under normal circumstances and is the worst world champion in boxing history in my opinion because of the way he ‘won’ the title and due to his lack of achievement since. An inexperienced Anthony Joshua went on to ice Martin inside 2 rounds. With Jim Watt later saying Charles Martin had a 'world title for sale sign on his back'. I can also remember Adam Kownacki getting a decent amount of credit for beating Martin.I personally knew he hadn't achieved anything and when kownacki was 1/25 to beat Robert Helenius, really the smart money was on Helenius to win by knockout.Kownacki was also heavily favored in their rematch and was destroyed once again.
It's a myth that Vitali was dominating that fight only 8 punches separated them in overall punches landed and Byrd had a way higher connect percentage. It was a competitive fight and Byrd was winning more rounds in the 2nd half of the fight and I had it close fight 5-4 for Vitali. It's not a fluke when Vitali never beat anyone on paper as good as a prime Byrd.
Wild Bill Hanrahan v Choynski Hart v Jack Johnson Hart v Root Schmeling v Joe Louis Jesey Joe Walcott v Bivins Jersey Joe Walcott v Lee Murray Jersey Joe Walcott v Harold Johnson Jersey Joe Walcott v Ezzard Charles III and IV Leotis Martin v Sonny Liston Muhammad Ali v George Foreman All of Wlad Klitschkos losses Ezzard Charles beating Archie Moore isn't a fluke. Him going 3-0 is a fluke.
Well I remember someone saying to me that there is no such thing as a fluke in boxing as someone is trying to hit you to knock you out, so if it happens it's not a fluke but in answer to your question There are a few fights where I think the fighter that lost would have probably have won 9/10 times if they fought but just got caught that one time - Judah/Baldomir Joshua/Ruiz Lewis/Rahman Tyson/Douglas All spring to mind
