Either did the version who fought Floyd. Again, once Floyd started countering the jab, Oscar and Freddie (who was his trainer) had no answers.
I can see you think very highly of Floyd. Suffice it to say, Oscar did well early and faded late which is what ultimately allowed for Floyd to assume control in the later rounds. The Oscar we saw that night against the artist formerly known as pretty boy wouldn't have done so well against the Goldy we saw in against Mosley or Trinidad.
Bringing up the Trinidad fight was a horrible idea He gassed, he faded in the last 3 rounds. He was tired and cruised. That decision will haunt him for the rest of his life. There were many moments in Oscar's career where he could have been absolutely great. But he fell short unfortunately some of those times. That is why he isn't very high in the ATG list.
I look at it more like Oscar thought he had in the bag and coasted. Either way it was a mistake. Oscar does however get the credit he deserves for facing stiff challenges in many different weight divisions. He also has a large list of HOF caliber opponents on his resume and a good level of success against said opposition. In comparing Oscar/Floyd, Oscar faced top guys all the up to 160. Floyd stopped at 135.
Wrong again. Baldomir was the undisputed welterweight king the time he fought him Hatton was a top dog Cotto was the 154 king Mosley #3 p4p Marquez #2 Could go on and on. How is it his fault that Tsuyu/Hatton/Cotto wanted none of him at 140? Pac refused to do tests/refused the 40 million. Oscar/Mosley refusing to fight when May was calling them out when May was 135?
Except Oscar threw more jabs in the last 4 rounds than the 1st 4 rounds Floyd adjusted and took it to a level Oscar couldnt. Activity had nothing to do with it
Baldomir was garbage, end of story. And if we're going to focus on titles being an incentive for fights to happen, why did he fight Zab Judah and not Antonio Margarito who held the WBO strap? Hatton's biggest accomplishment at 147 was getting a gift decision over Collazo, but hey, some of you are easily impressed it seems. As for Marquez, GTFO w that ****. Dude was a lightweight.
only *****s. no one can doubt the skillset of floyd but plenty can doubt his level of competition. other than dlh(mosley was a non-roided version)at 147+ his record leaves a lot to be desired for a person to think that he is the greatest ever. isnt this the guy that fell to his knees and cried like a little baby after beating arturo gatti? the same gatti that was previously beaten down by fringe contenders manfredy and then losing to journeymen ward and b-level robinson? the same gatti that was then subsequently ko'd by journeyman gomez and then b-level baldomir? for floyd to even mention "greatest ever" alongside his name is a disgrace to boxing.
This is the mind-set all the greats have. If you asked, Hagler, SRL, SRR, JL, Hearns, Duran, etc., the same thing you think they are gonna talk about how others fighters are better. If you get into the ring without thinking you are the baddest muth****a to ever do then you are in the wrong business.
Baldomir was much more proven than Margo, Margo was coming off a recent loss and NOWHERE as proven as Baldomir was at that point in time. Fact. He fought Zab because he already had a contract with him. Everyone thought that Zab would beat Baldomir but Baldomir beat him. However, he still honored the contract. Baldomir was #1 in WW, was on a huge 6 year 21 fight winng streak. Margarito was off defending his WBO strap against nobodies You know **** all about boxing.
Floyd plays these haters so easily. So funny watching them react to everything he says. Floyd aka puppet master
