Canelo is no JMM, but he has the size and power to hurt mayweather. He has more of a chance to win then JMM ever did in that fight.
Marquez, who was jumping up two divisions, had every disadvantage against Mayweather. At least Canelo has an advantage in size and power like PM said.
JMM is a new boxer now, with one Punch KO power enough to send Pac to Plank time, I dought canelo has that power... :bbb
You shouldn't expect FMJ to go plank time any time soon because he doesn't make a habit of leaping into punches face first.
Marquez is more skilled but small and slower at WW, Canelo is less skilled but bigger and functionally quick at 154 (and probably 152). They are actually the opposite of each other in those respects. Horrible comparison.
Gasnelo will inevitably gas then stop pressuring. I believe Marquez came forward for the majority of the fight.
I'm not certain as to how long Canelo will pressure for, whether he'll try to make Floyd lead at times, but I favor Floyd to win by decision, moving and mixing up his straight punches to the head and body, hooking off the jab, jabbing, etc. Canelo's best bet is to jab, control the center and throw straight punches, step back a bit once in a while, and counter Floyd with combinations starting at the body and finishing at the head. And feint the whole time.
I'll never understand why FMJ was so cautious with JMM. He easily could have knocked JMM out if he wanted, yet, aside from the 2nd round knockdown, he never even really hurt Juan. I think he'll be even more cautious with Canelo. If Canelo lands something big, however, the beast might come out in Floyd. This will be interesting.
He says he went for it but couldn't get it. JMM never looked hurt. Besides, coming forward gave JMM more opportunities. Floyd won't take a punch if he doesn't have to.
