Round 4 Hopkins picking Arnaoutis off at long range with his left jab, while Arnaoutis tries to move his head and sneak inside, flurrying whenever he gets near Hopkins. Arnaoutis can't stay on the inside, but is trying every trick in the book. Hopkins is caught with a jab but won't stay still as Arnaoutis opens up. Hopkins ducking, skipping out of the pocket. Arnaoutis pressuring intelligently, not wasting much movement, but still not getting any effective offense strung together.
Round 5 Good advice from Arnaoutis' corner. Teddy paraphrases it pretty well, actually: "after doing all this nice work to get inside, he just falls back out without working in there". Hopkins shifting out of the defensive gear long enough to counter with a lazy jab or right hand. Hopkins does land a nice left hook while Arnaoutis is turning. Back to straighter but lazier punches, one at a time. Arnaoutis leaps in and whacks Hopkins hard with a hammer of a left hand. Arnaoutis with a 1-2 but can't stay on Hopkins. Hopkins going with undulating shots with both arms, meant more to back Arnaoutis off than hurt him.
Round 6 They take turns and trade 1-2s, both catching glove. Hopkins now waking up a bit, ripping a hook to the body. Arnaoutis gutting it out, pressing forward, getting countered but trying his best to get on top of Hopkins and rough him up. A left hand lead gets through for Arnaoutis. Hopkins backs him off with his jab. Arnaoutis hangs in front of Hopkins, makes like he's going to come forward and instead takes a step to the right as though going for a right hook. Hopkins steps off to his own right and annuls it.
Round 7 Atlas: Arnaoutis makes peanut butter sandwiches without the jelly. YOU GOTTA MAKE PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICHES, ARNAOUTIS! Hopkins jabbing as Arnaoutis circles and looks for spots to attack. Hopkins grabs Arnaoutis behind the head and gets yelled at. Atlas praises the tactic and likens it to Ali-Frazier. Arnaoutis lands a jab and then a quick hook to the body but Hopkins is too mobile to hit more than once in a row clean. Arnaoutis with a wild right hook that Hopkins escapes by bouncing into the ropes. Hopkins lands a jab but Arnaoutis times a big left hand that comes over fairly clean.
Round 8 Hopkins trying to switch roles now, coming at Arnaoutis with right hands. Arnaoutis weathers the storm and comes back at him with the slow and steady pressure. Hopkins back to circling and jabbing, occasionally melting into the ropes. Arnaoutis is reddened not only on the nose but on the left flank; apparently some body shots have been scoring for Hopkins. Arnaoutis trying to distract Hopkins and get him to drop his gloves with a low right jab to the rib area but Hopkins not falling for it.
Dammit, Boggle. I told you about that privately in PMs and you're bringing it up to the entire FNF ESB gen forum audience? Anyway, I couldn't do it. I just nodded off for a minute. But, you know. Jerk-off, nod off, six and a half of one...half a baker's dozen of another.
I'm reading. I bet Arnaoutis as a huge dog so it sounds like I might get a nice payday. :happy Thanks a lot for doing this IB.
Round 9 :grouphug So that describes the first minute of the round. Now Arnaoutis jabbing, triples it up and WOAH. That was a hell of a left hand shot upwards at the chin of Hopkins. A moment later, Arnaoutis down - it's a slip. His foot went under the bottom rope. Hopkins no longer backing up, coming at Arnaoutis with jabs. Arnaoutis changing directions - lateral, backward, stepping in to meet Hopkins with left hands to the body. Hopkins just tracks him down with a jab.
